Each life cycle comes in two versions for differentiated learning: one version is a cut and paste, the other is a fill-in-the-blank version with a word bank for more advanced students. Have fun this Earth Day with this fun and hands-on Sorting Recycling Activity. This Earth day activity is perfect to teach your learners about recycling and its importance. Learners will sort the items into the different bins and learn about the different materials that can be recycled.

This printable contains:

---> 7 different recycling bins (small and large versions)

---> Items of different materials to be sorted into the different bins

---> Sorting Recycling Info Sheet

---> Includes color and BW versions

Instructions:

•Print out pages and laminate if desired.

•Cut apart the bins, and the items for recycling.

•Discuss with your learners about what items can be recycled and how they must be separated into different bins for recycling.

•Ask your learner to pick up a card, name it and if possible to mention what material the item is made of.

•Then ask them, under which bin they think the item should be placed.

•Continue this until all the items have been sorted.

•If your learner can read, you can give the sheet with the sorting information and ask them to see whether the items have been sorted correctly.

•To make this activity self-checking, put a small coloured dot behind, matching the bin colour.

This packet provides activities and centers about the different kinds of animals and trees that live in the forest. It can be a simple packet for talking about the animals and plants in general or you can go further by learning about the plants in the coniferous forest verses the plants that live in the deciduous forest. Pages 3-5 – These pages are a sorting activity where students can sort the animals and plants according to whether they are in a deciduous forest or a coniferous forest. Combine this sorting set with those from other Habitat sets for more sorting options. Pages 6-13 – The pages are for drawing pictures of different kinds of forests and drawing animals that live there. Student will write the names for the animals they draw. There are pages for forests, woodlands, the Amazon and the African jungle. Each type of forest has 2 pages with different writing lines. Pages 14-19 – These are poster pages for each type of forest and the plants and animals that live there. Pages 20-23 – These are clip cards for telling whether the animals live in the woodlands or the rain forest. The cards are available with and without the animal names Page 24 – This is a memory/concentration game. Print this sheet twice and cut them out to make the game! Pages 25-32 – Available in color and in black and white, these are forest picture cards. You can use these to hang around the room for reference or combine them with other Habitat sets to make sorting mats. You can also combine these from other sets to create a habitat book. Pages 33-34 – Available in color and in black and white, they are small animal cards to use to sort on the forest mats. Pages 35-36 – Clip Cards where you clip whether the tree or parts of trees are found in a coniferous forest or a deciduous forest. Page 37 – Owl Crafts Page 38 – Factual Reading Page and Simple coloring activity. Page 39 – Deciduous and Coniferous Forest page: Color the pictures that are found in the deciduous forest yellow and in the coniferous forest green. This activity can be used as a game, sorting mat, worksheet, or in any way to suit your needs for a review on types of clouds or weather unit for the whole class, small group, or individual work like in a center. The object is to sort the cloud types by the layer that they’re found in. Each type can also be labeled whether or not the cloud type contains precipitation or not.
