This social story is designed to help children understand the importance of keeping their hands to themselves, especially when they are touching or poking others or handling other people’s belongings. It teaches boundaries and respect for personal space.

Ideal for teachers, parents, and caregivers, this story encourages respectful behavior in social settings, helping children understand the importance of boundaries and consideration for others.

What is included?

As well as a 12 page social story there is also a shortened adapted book version of the story with movable pictures to attach to each page.

Why do you need this?

The point of a social story is to use a patient and reassuring tone to teach children about social situations in a way that can be easily understood. Social stories can be useful for any child who is struggling to understand a situation or concept or needs help to understand a social skill or social cue, expectations, perspectives, common responses or is troubled about an upcoming event but social stories are particularly useful for children on the autistic spectrum for whom social cues can be challenging and who often suffer anxiety if they do not know what to expect from a situation.

How and when might you use this?

· To implement a social story, you should first ensure that you have eliminated distractions; that it is just you and the child sitting together focussed on the story.

· Initially you should read the story through twice with the child but it is then vital to revisit it regularly.

· Try to find a way to incorporate the story into the child's daily schedule.

· If the story is relating to a particular inappropriate behavior, it is useful to read the story when this behavior occurs, you do not however want the story to be seen as any kind of punishment.

· Regularly praise your child and keep it a positive experience.

These books should be used over and over to reinforce the point so I would suggest either putting the pages into a display book or laminating and binding them.

Tired students? Have trouble getting your kids to bed? Try to create a nighttime ritual of relaxation. This yoga sequence is sure to do the trick.

Enjoy 5 poses to get you and your children in the mood for resting and relaxation. Includes sphinx, child's pose, fish, bound angle, and legs on the wall. Each pose has an uplifting mantra to think or say aloud.

Take What You Need / Give What You Can bulletin board! This bulletin board is a great back to school or any time during the school year display. You will print out words and phrases on post-it notes, hang them up and let students take them as needed. Have blank post it notes available for students to "Give what you can." This is made to work with 3"x3" post-it notes. Included in this product are: Instructions on how to set it up Blank template to attach post-it notes 17 pages of messages and words (6 per page) Blank template for you to type in your own words Instructions on how to fill in the editable fields of the pdf Bulletin Board title (Take What You Need / Give What You Can). This is a behavior chart worksheet that can be filled out by the child with the teacher. It is supposed to help younger children think about their behavior and how they can improve it They should fill this out after they have been sitting in the thinking chair and had their consequence. Teacher prints off multiple worksheets and places on the left side of the child's folder. Staple one of the 0-4 strips to the folder with a paper clip for the child to move along as they get a consequence. This way it is private and other students can't see how many they have. When you fill out the consequence form, list the child's name, the date, and what consequence they are on. The child should circle how they feel and draw what they did wrong, and say an I will statement such as "I will sit quietly on the rug and listen to the teacher.". Then the teacher writes in what the consequence was and files the paper on the right side of the folder. Each month go through the child's folder and staple the forms to be saved and fill in the area that says if they have improved their behavior. This gives the teacher easy documentation. To show parents how many consequences the child had for the day, prepare a calendar with 1 circle in each day box and child will put the number of consequences they had for the day based on what their folder says.
