  • Addition within five (four worksheets, sentence style, column style, missing addends)
  • Subtraction within five (four worksheets, sentence style, column style, missing minuend or subtrahends)
  • Mixed Addition and Subtraction within five (ten worksheets, sentence style, column style, missing addends, missing minuend or subtrahends)

Suggestions: Spread out your students at different tables throughout your room. I usually sit students behind privacy screens. Pass out the paper and have your students write their names on it. Instruct students not to write anything else. Tell all your students to put their hands on their heads. Set your timer. You can use a visual timer on your smart board or any other type of timer you have. When I first start using Mad Minutes, I start off with 3 minutes for kindergartners. You can decrease your time as students get more practice. Tell students to begin working when you start the timer. If students finish before the timer goes off, instruct your students to put their hands on their heads and collect their papers. They must sit quietly until the timer goes off so other students can keep working. Once the timer goes off all the remaining students must put their hands on their hands and you can then collect all the papers.
