There are 25 posters or cards that include many of the key events and periods from the founding of Rome to the end of the empire. The posters look great as a display in the classroom and the cards are a brilliant introduction to Ancient Rome. The displays and cards come both with dates and without dates, so the students can research the dates online before sorting the timeline. The cards look even better when laminated.

Then, there is an informational text writing unit about Ancient Rome. The unit focuses on key facts about the history of the ancient civilization that dated from the founding of the city of Rome in the 8th Century BC, until its downfall in the 5th Century AD. The timelines can be used individually to give your students knowledge about one particular civilization, or together to give your students a wide knowledge of how the civilizations interconnected, with key figures and events linking them together in history.

The research and sorting activities are differentiated into two levels: with dates and without dates. Lower level students can sort the events using the dates, whilst higher level students can research the dates online before sorting the timeline.

Firstly, there are five reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:

• Stone Ages Overview
• Paleolithic Era
• Mesolithic Era
• Neolithic Era
• Stonehenge

These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have a teacher presentation, an extension activity, a multiple choice quiz, a crossword and a wordsearch. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.

Then, there are two informational writing units about the Stone Age and Stonehenge. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Also, there is an opinion writing unit about which was the most important era from the Stone Age: the Paleolithic Era, the Mesolithic Era or the Neolithic Era. This unit has again been split into three or four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Finally, there is a Stone Ages Timeline Activity and Display. It is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events and advancements from the period. There are 33 posters or task cards.
