In order to learn and grow, children first need to be able to express how they feel and why they feel that way! Placing an emphasis on social emotional learning will help equip your students with skills to become better learners and ultimately better people.

Play and Purposes Friendship unit focuses on:

• Using picture books to share real life examples of how we can understand how to be a good friend
• Practicing working on being a good friend individually, in pairs, small groups, and as a whole class
• Learning about friendship, being a good friend, and treating others with respect through playing games, writing, and creative expression

The 20 lessons included in this unit include 5 activity types:

• Read and React
• Play in a Pair 
• Read and Respond
• Let’s Play Together
• Color and Create

Many lessons contain ways to scaffold the learning to your students and allow for the most learning to take place as possible!
