Civics & US History Learning Goal Charts:
Have your students track
their learning!
Administrators always say to put the tracking in the student's hands, make sure you are keeping data, and never offer ways to help you do these! Well, that's where I come
in! I sat down with the test specs, essential standards, and standard breakdown sheet to create this awesome excel sheet that you could easily print & distribute so that
your students can track THEMSELVES! Plus this is also a great tracker for PLC's to ensure all students are learning the content you are on the same page. This has made
our team meetings go SO much smoother! This is my favorite tool in my classroom.
Students will track themselves in this unit standard by standard with the use of "I can" statements.
Instructions: Step By Step
1. Find the unit we are in right now.
2. Based on the work we have done thus far, please put an x in the box that best describes your knowledge of the "I can" statement.
3. Be sure to revisit this before your test to ensure that You've Got This Down! This is what the Civics team is creating your test off of. If you can move yourself to the
final column of "Yes, I can." Then you should score 80% or higher on the test. I will be checking on

Plus this is also a great tracker for PLC's to ensure all students are learning the content you are on the same page. This has made our team meetings go SO much smoother! Students will track themselves unit by unit & by standard by standard with the use of "I can" statements.

Writing an informational essay is an important writing project that gives students time to conduct research on a specific topic that is of interest to them. Once they are finished with their masterpiece, they can share it with their friends and family members. This product includes information to share with your students about what informational writing is, why we complete informational writing tasks, what steps to follow when writing the introduction/lead topic sentence, subtopics #1, #2, and #3, and the conclusion to form a strong essay on a topic, how to make our writing flow so that it makes sense to the reader, and tips to look for when rereading and editing. This provides them with the opportunity to think about what they want to do during the summer and share it with their peers! This packet includes information to share with your students about what a summer bucket list is, and why we write for information.
Students will learn about the following before writing a summer bucket list essay, students will learn about why they write for information, and rules to follow when writing a summer bucket list essay and what should be included.
An example of three possible writing topics and a summer bucket list essay example is provided. Three graphic organizer templates, an essay template, and a rough draft or final draft essay template. Writing an animal research report can be a fun and interesting project for your students. This provides them with the opportunity to learn about an animal that interests them and share it with their peers! This packet includes information to share with your students about what an animal research report is, topic ideas, why an animal research report is written, what is shared in an animal research report, who the audience will be, how the completed animal research report will be published, rules to follow when writing an animal research report, where to locate information and the possible sources one could find when completing an animal research report, opening paragraph tips to hook the reader, tips that make a great animal research report, and an idea that shows the structure of an animal research report are included in this product
An example of three possible writing topics, a completed KWL chart, and a brainstorming chart that will serve as a guide when writing the rough draft of the animal research report are included in this product. An example of a rough draft on giant pandas, and an example of the sources that were used to write this animal research report are also provided to help support students and serve as a guide to help them when writing their own rough draft. Templates are included after the example along with a rough draft template and reminder checklist, so students remember to go back and check their work once it is completed.
Students can also complete the questions that are included with this product about their animal, such as what the name of you animal?, where does your animal eat?, how much does your animal weigh? Etc. Students will also be required to draw a picture of their animal. Using this template may be better to use with students who require the animal research report to be adapted.

Students will answer questions regarding technology and social media and how they can affect our ability to show compassion to others, why people forget to take care of themselves and show compassion for themselves, how to stop negative thoughts from happening. Students will review the meaning for stigma, stereotype, prejudice, and discrimination. Students will also review what negative things they have heard about people with mental illness, along with positive things. Talking about how others are different and that's what makes them unique, and how others are stigmatized based on how they look, act, etc. Examples of possible stigmas are presented. The meaning of self-stigma and what examples of self-stigma are presented. Students will also review health conditions or social differences that were stigmatized throughout history, and ways to reduce stigma to eliminate negative feelings.
Throughout this product, students will answer comprehension questions and will also be presented with social scenarios that they may encounter where they are asked how they would feel or what they would do. An attitude survey regarding mental health that contains 10 questions is also included in this product. Students will compare their results when they are finished and will go over the correct answers.
This product can be used for 7th - 12th grade students depending on maturity and academic level.
