Real-Life Math! Multiplying Binomials (FOIL), Addressing all Basics needed!

By Daniel

It is always a good strategy to review essential skills with your students, and this is right up there with the most essential!

The task will help students review all the basics involved in multiplying binomials. The task is specifically useful in a classroom full of students of different abilities. It addresses the following algebraic basics:

  • how to multiply integers
  • how to add and subtract like terms
  • how to multiply monomials (the laws of exponents)
  • how to FOIL two binomials.

Real-Life Math fun! Systems of Linear Equations Algebra Matrices Graphing

By Daniel

A real-Life Math activity that children can do to practice Linear equations.

This resource (task with complete key) practices student's skills to solve a system of linear equations in at least the following three ways:

  • With Algebra - elimination or substitution
  • With Matrix Algebra
  • With the graphs of each linear equation

The task gives four comprehensive problems that must be solved (or verified) with all three methods.

This resource works great as ...

  • an assessment exercise
  • a task
  • independent work
  • distance learning
  • math stations
  • math centers
  • homework
  • constructive group work when introducing the topic.

And, you can also get these resources also on Linear equations!

Graphing Logarithmic Functions Guided Notes | Partner Practice | Log Functions |

By AbsoluteValueMath

Learn and practice graphing log functions with this complete lesson. In this print and go lesson, you can print all 7 pages out and give it out as a packet to start the topic. Have them start off completing the word search with vocabulary associated with graphing log functions. Go through the guided notes with the graphing log function examples with them (or they can do it alone with the guidance of the notes). Then have them work with a partner to complete the partner problems. After that they will complete the independent practice to see what they understand on their own. You can assign them the HW for the night. The next day they can summarize what they learned, reflect on what was challenging and what was not and then rate themselves on a scale of 1-4 to self assess how well they understood graphing log functions.

TOPICS:

- Graphing log functions

- Making x/y tables

- Determining intercepts, domain, range, and asymptotes

ANSWER KEY INCLUDED.

WHAT YOU GET:

>> DO NOW: Students will complete a short word search to familiarize themselves with the vocabulary associated with log functions. They will fill in a chart reflecting on words they have heard of and have not.

>> GUIDED NOTES: You can go through the vocabulary, guided notes and 4 guided examples with your students.

>>PARTNER PROBLEMS: They will each complete 2 problems each and then check each others problems to reinforce the concepts of graphing log functions.

>>INDEPENDENT PROBLEMS: Students will then work alone to see how well they understand graphing log functions on their own without the help of their partner and complete 2 problems.

>>HW: Students will complete 2 practice problems to practice graphing log functions

>>SUMMARIZE, REFLECT, ASSESS: Students will summarize the lesson, reflect on the challenges they had and then self assess from 1-4 to determine how well they understood graphing log functions.
