Use these resource to share with kids that history is all around us. This topic would be a great beginning of the year or end of the year activity. An activity I used to to with my students had the students writing a paragraph on their favorite childhood toy. What was it? Why was it important to you? What did it look like? What happened to it. This got the discussion started that even THEY have a personal history. I shared my Pinkie, a stuffed dog, that was my very favorite childhood toy( which I still have).

This bundle contains six of my Ms. Bie Ografee Talk Show format Reader's Theater Scripts. The bundle includes Bessie Coleman, Tuskegee Airmen, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King and George Washington Carver.

Each play has the "guest" visiting Ms. Bie Ografee's Talk Show and audience questioners asking the guest questions about their life and accomplishments. The plays include a Did You Know? of factoids, comprehension questions, a teacher page with extension activities and the key.

Great for Black History(African American History)Month in February or any time of the year if you are covering American History or would like to use a biographical play as a Friday (or before a vacation) activity.

This Basketball Fun coloring sheet involves students identifying state capitals. Then, using the capital key, students color the coloring sheet according to the colors needed for each capital city. The activity is a great following direction activity, too!

Ever wonder what became of the Mayflower? The ship sailed with 102 Pilgrims over the Atlantic to North America, in 1620. If you are expecting to find it docked to some pier, or in a museum, you’d be wrong. That’s because the Mayflower most likely ended up as scrap wood and may have ended up in an old Quaker Barn in Great Britain! This Reading Passage is a possible Interactive Notebook Activity with Did You Know? facts and several Your Turn questions.

Want a fun activity to review vocabulary terms for a unit on Japan? Looking for an enrichment activity in history? Try my Japanese Puzzler: Secret Message Activity. The activity involves students working individually or in groups to review vocabulary terms on Japan. Then,a following direction activity is next where students place letters from the different terms into boxes found at the end of the activity page. Once all the boxes are filled, a "secret message" about Japan is revealed! The teacher page includes additional information to share about the "secret message". It's a fun way to reinforce important vocabulary for a unit of study on the Japan! If you prefer to offer a vocabulary box, I have included this as well.

After gathering information using the documents, students develop an essay answering a question.The topic of this Primary Source(DBQ )is Life of a Japanese-American Child Living in an Internment Camp during World War 2.

March is National Peanut Month. My web quest," Learn about the Peanut!" is a fun/informative activity that helps develop skills such as reading for information and using research and computer skills. Comprehension questions, fun facts about the peanut and lots of extension activities (and the key) are included. A great activity for a Friday or when you need a substitute activity.

**April 26th is National Pretzel Day!**Use this reading passage to show students that everything has a history, even pretzels! The resource includes a reading passage, a Did You Know? section of fun facts about pretzels. For example: Baldies are what saltless pretzels are called! Learn about George Washington Carver! Part of my Ms. Bie Ografee Talk Show Series: Students learn about George Washington Carve,the Wizard of Tuskegee, with this informative Reader's Theater Script. As a guest on Ms. Bie Ografee's Talk Show, Carver answers questions from the studio audience about his life. Carver found more than 300 uses for the peanut. He also found about 118 products that could be made from the sweet potato. For his many discoveries, Carver is also called the “Black Leonardo”(after Leonardo da Vinci). He was an early believer in recycling and believed in the importance of respecting nature.

Need a quick fun Friday(or day before a vacation activity)? Teaching American History and want to introduce your students to Eleanor Roosevelt? Try this fun and information play based on the Mark Goodson Production To Tell the Truth Game Show. To Tell the Truth was a popular television show which has returned with host Anthony Anderson(of Blackish). Three guests all claim to be the real guest being interviewed by a panel. The real guest must tell the truth where the other imposters do not have to do so. Kids must be "truth detectives" to determine just who is the REAL Eleanor Roosevelt.

Students in grades 4-9 will have fun acting out their parts and learning some interesting facts about First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Discuss questions and activities are also included.
