How It Works:

1. Choose a Subject: Students select an individual to research. This could be anyone from historical figures, scientists, artists, to contemporary leaders or influencers. Maya Angelou is pre-filled in on version of this template.
2. Fill in the Blanks: The template guides students through the research process. They'll fill in key sections, providing biographical information, accomplishments, and the impact of the chosen individual.
3. Present to the Class: The completed reports become the basis for engaging class presentations. This step encourages students to express themselves confidently and articulately.

Found poems are one of my favorite activities to do with students because students "create" poems from already well known primary source documents, informational text or literature. Every found poem is different and unique to each student. This activity has students create found poems from the Gettysburg Address. This resource includes the text of the Gettysburg address AND a graphic organizer to help them organize their work. Once they create their poems, I like to have them re-write them on parchment paper or decorate them some other way to hang them around the classroom.
