This is a set of 4 Problem and Solution Nonfiction Passages with Graphic Organizers and Written Response Questions. It is designed for students in grade 4, 5 and 6 to help them improve their reading comprehension skills and learn how to identify the problem and solution in nonfiction texts.

The four nonfiction passages are on engaging topics, such as:

Each passage is followed by a graphic organizer that helps students identify the main problem and solution in the text. The graphic organizers are designed to help students organize their thoughts and write a summary of the passage.

Identifying text structure can be tricky, but this interactive and hands-on sort makes practice engaging, particularly because the topics are relevant for middle school students.
