Irregular Verb Rhyming Trimino Puzzle (EFL / ESL / Speech Therapy)
By Miss Clever Cookie
A fun drill activity to teach 30 irregular verbs. FUN AND DRILL IN ONE SENTENCE??!! She is crazy, you may think. Well, I kid you not, but kids (and grown-ups) actually really love it. Their joy when they finally work it out is real.
It's LOW PREP and very easy to set up. Simply cut up the puzzle pieces and let your pupils put them back together. The resulting shape is that of a hexagon. Students need to match the infinitive with the correct picture. The picture rhymes with the past simple and past participle form. It can be quite challenging so it's best used as a team activity. You can even turn it into a competition. Just print out a few copies and see which team completes the puzzle first. It's also great as an extra activity for those of your students who always finish first.
I use this puzzle in my EFL classes but I'm sure it would also work great in speech therapy sessions.
PRO TIP: They should start by picking a verb. They look for the rhyme while CHANTING the 3 forms of the verb. They do one verb at a time until they complete the whole puzzle.
Irregular verbs used in this material and their rhymes:
1. All three forms of the verb are the same
put - foot
set - vet
cut - nut
hit - sit
hurt - shirt
2. The 2nd and 3rd forms are the same
win - 1
get - hot
sit - cat
hear - bird
read - bread
make - afraid
feel -belt
keep - step +t
mean - tent
build - hill +t
smell - belt
fight - astronaut
have - sad
stick - duck
hold - bell +d
leave - theft
catch - astronaut
say - bread
sell - cold
stand - wood
dig - slug
lose - boss +t
find - ground
3. The 2nd and 3rd forms are different but similar
speak - coke (+n)
steal - bowl (+n)

Fun game to practice present perfect. This is my go-to game when I need to drill some grammar into my students. It's by far the most efficient grammar game. I love it because it's no prep, just PRINT AND GO. And my students love it because it doesn't feel like learning when, in fact, they do a TON of learning. We can easily spend the whole lesson playing battleship and they still want to play even after the bell rings.
It's also a great activity for substitute lessons or when I'm in a time press and don't have much time to prepare for a lesson.

This is a Skills Poster that is designed to set the grounding for a basic understanding of Percentages and how they work. This poster is meant as a complimentary aid and is to be used with other learning materials. It is a simple visualisation of percentages. Many posters and learning aids show how Percentages work in comparison to other ways of dividing and measuring. There are very few visual aids dedicated to the concept of Percentages first and foremost before comparing it to other ratio methods. The term, "percent", has it's basis in Latin. An understanding of the meaning of the word can help a basic understanding take hold before using the concept to compare it to other forms of dividing and measuring. Download this poster completely FREE! And follow us for more updates coming soon. Fractions, Decimals and Percentages Printables and Worksheets also available USA PACK - UK PACK Fractions, Decimals and Percentages Cut-Out Visual Aids for $5 and 5 Card Game Bundle for $7.50 are also available. This poster is intended to lay the groundwork for a very basic understanding of how Decimals work, without relying on a comparison to Fractions or Percentages at the very first hurdle. We think that a student should understand the principles of decimals in relation to numbers which are a power of 10, before comparing and contrasting them with Fractions and Percentages. This way, an understanding of fraction conversion can become even stronger later down the line. Download the FREE poster right away, give us a rating, and follow us to stay updated with all forthcoming products! We appreciate your time.
