"A Christmas Carol": Activities and Vocabulary Bundle
By Colleen Burdette
Engaging activities for literature:
"A Christmas Carol" Vocabulary: Students will find the given words within the novel "A Christmas Carol" and record the sentence in which the word can be found. I had the students complete these sheets after reading the section of the book.
Creative activity: Students participate in an activity where they will write and illustrate their stories of Christmas past, present, and yet to come, in a way that is similar to what happens to Scrooge in the novel.
Students loved sharing their stories and hearing the hopes their classmates have for their futures.
As a culminating activity: Students read or watch A Christmas Carol and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, my students read A Christmas Carol and watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas, for an engaging activities before the holiday. They will practice comparing and contrasting in three different ways, including an exciting snowball fight.

ELA Book for Student Reference/Writing/Literature/Grammar/Organizers
By Blooming Through High School
Perfect for learners who have IEP's requiring class notes, correctly completed examples, and graphic organizers.
Bundle and save with the All Things English Revising & Editing Workbook
I was tired of writing things on the board over and over again. I was tired of printing out pages that students threw away. I was also tired of answering questions that students could find for themselves. So I made a book to make sure I wouldn't have to anymore.
Over the course of 2 months, I thought of everything that I would have to teach, explain, write examples of, and print, and I put all my tips and tricks into ONE BOOK. I printed this out and spiral bound all the pages for each of my students. Every time my students ask me to repeat something, I point them to the book.
I also use this in my class for reference during specific lessons as well. It's a game changer! I save time and I save my sanity.
It's the MOST helpful for all the little pieces students need to know for all the stages of writing: brainstorming, pre-writing, paragraphs, citations, plagiarism, and much, much more.
WANT TO REVISE THIS TO MAKE IT YOUR OWN? I've added the Word document for teachers to modify to fit their teaching style!
Sections:
Key Features: ELA, English Language Arts, Writing Guide, Revising & Editing, Class Notes, Completed Examples, Graphic Organizers, IEP Accommodations, Teacher-Editable Word Document.

Photo Writing Prompts with Music: Creative Writing Visual Story Starters Bundle
By Betsy Newmeyer
Inspire reluctant writers with no-prep, digital visual photo writing prompts set to music. You'll get 30 photos prompts, each one set to music, that act as story starters for creative writing projects. You'll also get printable AND editable graphic organizers for both Google Docs and Google Slides, which makes differentiating and supporting reluctant or struggling writers easy. If you're looking for easy, no-prep digitalwriting prompts that will stimulate the senses, this resource is ideal. Can be used throughout the year, year after year.
Use as a Guided Whole Class Lesson. Using this resource is really easy. Simply select a slide to display on your screen, interactive TV, or smartboard for your students in present mode. Then turn up the volume as the embedded music starts to play (starts automatically), and sit back and watch as the creative juices start flowing. The visual and auditory stimuli will help students quickly generate a word bank full of ideas, which is perfect for creative writing. Use the slides to start a conversation, brainstorm ideas for characters, settings, and conflicts, generate a word bank, or inspire an entire week-long writing project. Use as a low-stakes quick write activity or a longer-term writing activity.
Here's what you'll get . . .
Differentiating for student needs is easy. Students can brainstorm ideas via speech to text or typing directly onto a Google Slide or Google Doc. Simply push out the doc or slide out through Google Classroom and be sure to give each student their own digital copy. OR give students the printable document to handwrite their ideas. Use the Prompts and Differentiation Ideas Teacher guide to further support struggling writers by providing kids with a completed word bank, questions to answer, and story ideas.
In my own 5th-grade classroom, I like to have my students silently brainstorm ideas before they meet up with partners to build a story. Sometimes we use the photo and accompanying soundtrack as a quick-write while other times we work our way through the entire writing process. Often, I’ll use my interactive TV to record student ideas and capture a word bank directly on the slide before sending the class to their seats to further develop their ideas. Once, during an observation, the recess bell rang and not a single student noticed because they were so wrapped up in their writing. I'd call that a win!
Teachers love this resource because it's so easy to use and doesn't require any prep time or complicated steps. Students love the music and fun photos that really help set the mood, making writing so much easier.
Had fun, but want more resources like this one?
