When the opportunity arises, simply **model the vocabulary **on the board by pointing to the symbols and saying the corresponding word (e.g. the child falls and hurts themselves, model: “ow, sore”, “you’ve hurt your leg”, “let’s clean it”, “cleaning your leg”, “finished cleaning”, “are you okay?”, “yes? okay now!” etc.). Start by modelling 1-2 words & increase this over time as your learner becomes more familiar with the board.
