These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. This Figurative Language Short Passage BUNDLE includes every passage set in my shop with 3 close reading and writing worksheets each! ***Answer Keys Included!

Figurative Language Short Passage Sets are a no-prep, printable close reading activity that's perfect for middle school and high school. Each passage has between 206-226 words and is filled with between 14-19 examples of figurative language, such as hyperbole, metaphor, simile, and personification. I’ve found that although my students can tell me the definition of these terms, simile is the only one they can truly pick out in a text. As a result, their writing is filled with overused similes that need work! These figurative language passage sets are rigorous, use higher-level words and phrases, and in addition to merely identifying the different types, students will be asked to discuss the impact it has on the reader, as they’re asked to do on standardized testing. Simply print and go! There is truly no preparation needed, which is why this set is perfect to leave for sub plans, bell ringers, homework, test prep, review or assessment!

Four Corners Figurative Language Activity is a fun whole-group game or review activity. Your students will love moving around the room as you click through the 40 examples of figurative language, such as hyperbole, metaphor, simile, and personification. You will love this well-organized activity that allows students to test their knowledge, get exposure to high-quality examples, and even learn something new! Firstly, there are sixteen close reading activities, or informational texts, about:

• Jimmy Carter
• Ronald Reagan

These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity, crossword puzzle and wordsearch for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.

Secondly, there are eight biography writing units about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, John F. Kennedy and Thomas Jefferson. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Then, there is two opinion writing units discussing who is the most influential U.S. president of all time. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

After, there is a great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to all of the U.S Presidents throughout history. Great for class work, distance learning and home schooling. There are 46 posters or cards of all of the U.S Presidents, starting with the very first, George Washington, up until present day president, Joe Biden.

Finally, there is a 'top trumps' style supercards card game that enables your students to learn about all of the American presidents. Your class will love the trading cards which they can play with in an interactive and engaging way!
