Challenger Space Shuttle Disaster Reading Comprehension Worksheet 1980s Eighties

This passage provides a detailed account of the Challenger Space Shuttle Disaster, which occurred on January 28, 1986.
The text describes the events leading up to the launch, the sudden breakup of the shuttle just 73 seconds after liftoff, and the tragic loss of all seven crew members on board.
The passage also highlights the causes of the disaster, including a faulty O-ring seal in one of the solid rocket boosters, and the subsequent investigations and changes made to the space program.
The text is written at a level appropriate for upper elementary or middle school students and includes important historical context and vocabulary related to space exploration.
