Teach the ostinato concept using the musical lullaby extension to this well loved book. I wrote a simple lullaby the children can sing at every page turn. "The Naughty Ant and the Anteater" can be a valuable addition to an educator's classroom for several reasons:

This is a 12 page book study, geared towards kindergarten students. It follows the story of Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons by James Dean. Zero prep. Enjoy!

Teach the so-mi solfege syllables as well as reinforce ta and ti-ti syllables by chanting and singing a special rhyme to wake up the elephant in the book. Add handheld percussion instruments. Lots of fun for students in grades PreK-2.

Using this lesson and the book "Pokko and the Drum" by Matthew Forsythe, the children can drum along with Pokko as they follow her journey! Even though the lesson is written to use a frame drum, use any rhythm instruments you have available and modify as you need to. Have the students drum, walk to and decode the chant for an engaging lesson on ta and ti-ti rhythm syllables. Works for either in person or virtual teaching!

This Reader's Theater is a companion activity to the book “I Spy Fly Guy” by Tedd Arnold. This book is the 7th book in the Fly Guy series. It is perfect for kindergarteners, first graders, second graders and third graders! My students absolutely loved this book and I want to make a companion activity. It will enable the children to enjoy the story even more as well as increase reading fluency and speaking skills. This reader's theater is perfect for your class anytime of the year.
