Learn to sort mail just like Postal Workers! Teaching students vocational skills is a critical part of a special education / transition to work program. This unit helps students practice job, pre-vocational, and life skills by reading the last name on an envelope and sorting the mail into the correct mailbox.

This is LEVEL 3. There are 12 choices (mailboxes). The student will read the "mail" and determine the last name of the recipient. They will then choose the correct mailbox to "deliver" the mail based on the last name of the recipient and the mailbox. (Level 1 and Level 2 are also available).

These skills will assist your students in becoming more independent in their daily / work life. There are a total of 40 Clip Cards which many include a visual to support students to determine the appropriate pronoun. These clip cards are great to identify and explore which pronoun applies. With these clip cards, students are encouraged to choose the following pronoun.

HE – SHE – IT - THEY

Pronouns are words that take the place of a Noun. For example “he, she, it, they”.

Students simply use a peg or clip to identify each individual answer on the clip cards. In addition, there is a Pronoun poster which explains pronouns further.

Functional money skills such as counting and identifying money to make purchases are critical to successful daily living. This BUNDLE provides your students additional support identifying money, matching dollar amounts to currency and make purchases using the "next dollar up" method with 3 levels of digital practice with progressively harder tasks. Students will begin with matching dollar to dollar, progressing on to matching prices with dollars, then using the next dollar up method to make a purchase. The currency is in US dollars from $1 to $10. There 3 levels of digital learning with 10 cards per level!

******PLUS for your emerging money learners, your students will have access to printable worksheets where they will practice matching the number value to the written value, practicing writing the written value, as well as cutting and pasting the correct currency to the item. These worksheets focus on one dollar at a time, up to $10. The students will practice writing the dollar amount as well as cut and paste the correct number of dollars to the item shown. There are a total of 52 cards which include a particular question relating to the different types of community helpers as well as the different tools and resources that they need to carry out that position.

This is a great resource early learners, students with autism and learning difficulties to build vocabulary and increase their knowledge of the theme of community helpers. This resource is great for students who are non-verbal. On each card, the student as asked to reflect on the question and give a yes or no answer. There is also an option for “I don’t know” which allows for facilitation of reflection and discussion. The student may require some reflective questioning should they need prompting in relation to the question. These cards are created to facilitate conversation, discussion and insight. This Match-Select-Name reading unit is based on a reading intervention method developed by Patricia Oelwein. There has been a significant amount of research done on the efficacy of this method. It is shown to be beneficial for students with exceptionalities including Down’s Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder who are struggling to learn to read using phonics.

There are four stages in the method:

1 - Acquisition (Matching, Selecting, Naming)

2 - Fluency (Practice and Review)

3 - Transfer (Use of new fonts and coloured paper)

4 - Generalization (Ability to read the words in any context/format)

The resources included in this unit cover the acquisition stage for the 24 words in the set and provides resources to support the fluency stage of this method. The level of the words used in the document is predominantly at the Pre-Primer and Primer level of Dolch Sight Words.
