Everything you need to practice Simulated Conversations! Spanish students can practice conversing with these simulated conversations. Answering questions can be difficult for students, but these TEN interpersonal speaking tasks give students some general information about what they will hear and how they should answer. An audio link accompanies each conversation, with a 20 second timed pause for students to answer. There is also a rubric for easy feedback!

These simulated conversations mimic the AP Spanish Simulated Conversation task and are also great practice for Seal of Biliteracy tests (like AAPPL) where interpersonal speaking is one of the tasks. Start practicing early!

Save money by getting Practice Versions 1 & 2 together in this bundle along with a How To Presentation, and some samples from a past AP Spanish test. Students listen and reflect on the scores that were assigned.

Speaking, Writing and Listening are scaffolded and pre-differentiated with activities that stay with a familiar theme, Clothing & Shopping. The scaffolds and familiar theme help students find the courage they need to fully participate and truly build skills! Interpersonal Listening, Speaking and Presentational Writing Activities are all included!

Guided Conversations:

Guided Convos provide a scenario about a familiar topic and an outline for students to use to keep the conversation going. Students work with a partner and choose the role of Person A or Person B. They can trade roles, trade partners, or even do the same exact conversation again! They never turn out the same way! Students report feeling much more confident and able to keep conversations going after practicing a few times!

These conversations have 2 different versions for Novice High students and 2 different versions for Intermediate Low students.

Integrated Listening & Speaking:

ILS activities are done alone. Students will listen to a recording, and be given instructions for how to respond. They might hear: “Tell me about….” Or “Ask me questions about…” . These activities mimic the speaking/listening portion of many popular Seal of Biliteracy Tests.

There is a pre-made student activity that requires no language lab! If you have a language lab or some other kind of recording software, the teacher script will allow you to record the audio for students if you desire.

There are 2 activities in this resource, each with 5 prompts. They are designed so that the first activity is a bit easier and the 2nd one a bit more challenging. Use with different levels or at the beginning and end of a unit!

✍️Scenario Task Cards:

Scenario Task Cards are my go-to for lots of things! I display one at the beginning of every class and ask students to take turns talking about the scenario. But I also use them as a lesson plan for a class activity! I have students change partners and have them tell a story about 5 times in a row, each time with a new scenario and a new partner. Then students switch roles. Listeners become the speakers. Finally, sometimes I print the scenarios and ask students to write about them in class or for homework!

The Interpretive Reading, Presentational Writing and Interpersonal Speaking and Listening practices in this resource mimic what students will see on the AAPPL test.

Avila is a similar format to Vacaciones en España. The Google Slides™ presentation contains original photographs from Ávila, Spain, a beautiful and medieval city to the north of Madrid. Each slide contains text taking students through Ávila’s past (its incredible walls, towers and cathedral) and present-day life with some views of the city! The text is mainly written in both present and past (preterite and imperfect) and therefore is great for Years 2, 3 and 4. Read more HERE.

The Escape Room is a student favorite! It comes in a Spanish and English version, and students must follow the clues to help solve a crime. The clues take them all around Spain where they will learn about various aspects of the culture. Each clue they solve reveals the next clue! This is so much fun for students! Spanish writing prompts, especially when you make them into a group challenge, are a great way to get your Spanish 2, 3 or students writing, improving and learning from others!

Your Spanish students will look forward to working together to create writing that meets and exceeds the standards you’re looking for! Writing together allows peers to learn from each other and takes away some of the pressure when writing alone. What’s the best way to teach the present subjunctive in Spanish? Try teaching it with impersonal expressions! This digital or printable bundle of vocab, grammar notes and activities simplifies teaching students to use the present subjunctive mood. This mini-unit will help teach students to use the present subjunctive to give advice or react to what others say by using impersonal expressions like “It’s necessary, it’s important, it’s bad, it’s a shame”, etc.

How can I use this product?

This resource is has enough activities to make a mini-unit
Start by giving students the vocab list with included quizlet to familiarize themselves with the impersonal expressions
Next, begin the grammar notes. The notes are broken up into sections, and there are student practice activities to along with each section
After students have learned how to conjugate all the different kinds of subjunctive verbs, they learn how to construct a complete sentence
Then, they practice multiple skills, like listening and writing together
There are 2 formative assessments
There are activities that have students practice paragraph length writing to prepare for an interim or summative assessment

Doing a Spanish unit on accidents and injuries? Here are 3 NO PREP activities to help your students build their proficiency! Interpersonal Speaking is targeted with Partner Guided Conversations, Integrated Listening and Speaking activities, and Open-Ended Task Cards. These resources will give them both support and freedom to use their Spanish in creative ways!

Do your Spanish students need some help with interpersonal speaking? Are they struggling to have conversations in Spanish? Let’s give them some guided support with these 4 partner conversations about accidents and injuries! Both students will have the opportunity to ask and answer questions as part of a conversation, but with a lot of scaffolding to build confidence.

The Integrated Listening and Speaking Activities don’t require a partner. They mimic the Seal of Biliteracy tests, like AAPPL, by having students listen to a prompt and recording their response. There are 2 activities with 5 prompts each.

The Open-ended Task Cards provide 20 different scenarios about accidents and injuries. Students can tell stories to and with partners, record their stories, or write them! The scenarios come in 3 versions: for display on a SmartBoard/projector, printable in color and printable in black and white. You can use these as a daily warm up, for a whole class or even for an assessment!

Spanish students in year 2 and up
Students learning the preterite and imperfect

How can I use this product?

Students will work in partners to participate in a guided conversation
Students will trade roles so both can practice asking questions and answering questions
Teachers can assign these conversations as practice or as an assessment
Students can practice the same conversations with multiple partners to increase comfort and proficiency!
Students can listen to the ILS prompts and record their responses
Students can tell a partner a story from a task card scenario, record their story or write their story
Any of these activities are ready to use: NO PREP
All of these activities can be edited if you wish
