Check out the preview for ALL of the details on what's included in this engaging French Clothing - Les Vêtements unit. This packet is perfect for beginning students!

22 pages of worksheets and 48 speaking prompt cards are included.

48 words are included in this French clothing vocabulary packet.  4 pages are dedicated to identifying words students know and don’t know, and deciding which clothes and accessories they like and don’t like (see list of words in the preview).

  • On the first page, all of the words are listed. Students simply check off the words on the list that they recognize.

  • On the second page, students identify the words they don’t know and translate them.

  • On the third page, students check off things and activities that they like.

  • On the fourth page, students check off things and activities that they don’t like.

14 games are included for maximum exposure to all 48 words on the list.  Students will master all of the words before beginning the writing and speaking activities included in this packet.

  • Two all French Dots & Boxes games are included.  Each player draws lines using a different color while speaking the words on either side of the lines they draw.  When they complete a box, they draw an X in the box using their color.  Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who has the most!

  • Two Dots & Boxes games in English to be used for translating to French.  Each player draws lines using a different color while translating the words on either side of the lines they draw.

  • Two Tic-Tac-Toe worksheets to encourage mastering all 48 words on the list.  Students already know how to play this game, so you won’t need to do much explaining.  Choose a square, read the word aloud, write an X or an O on the square.  The first player to get three in a row wins that round!  Each worksheet includes four Tic-Tac-Toe vocabulary games.

  • Two Ceci ou Cela games are included in this vocabulary packet.  Each numbered row offers three choices.  Students read the three choices aloud and say the one that they prefer.  At the bottom of the page it says “Je préfère _____ parce que...” This is an opportunity for students to give reasons for their preferences in French

  • Six different Bataille Navale games will have your students speaking in complete sentences in French using the target vocabulary with “J’aime” or “Je n’aime pas” as starters.  This is an excellent way to prep for the upcoming writing and speaking activities!

4 writing activities following the “J’aime” or “Je n’aime pas” theme, and 48 speaking prompt cards are included.

  • One writing worksheet asks students to choose five things they like and to write two reasons why they like them.  “PARCE QUE” and “CAR” are both used in each sentence so that students will get used to the idea that they are interchangeable.

  • One writing worksheet asks students to choose five things they don’t like and to write two reasons why they don’t like them.  Once again, “PARCE QUE” and “CAR” are both used in each sentence.

  • One paragraph writing worksheet asks students to identify four things they don’t like and to write a full paragraph about why they don’t like them.  A self-evaluation checklist is included at the bottom of the page to encourage proof-reading and to make sure students include all four of their choices, adjectives, adverbs, and articles.

  • The second paragraph writing worksheet asks students to identify four things they do like and to write a full paragraph about why they like them.  The same self-evaluation checklist is included at the bottom of the page, as well as one to make sure they’ve included all of the essential elements.

  • Each of the 48 speaking prompt cards includes a different word from the list of target vocabulary in this packet.  There are four cards on each page.  Just print them and cut them out.  Laminate them if possible for years of no-prep activities!  The “J’aime” ou “Je n’aime pas” theme is repeated as well as using “parce que” and “car” interchangeably.

French Conversation Lesson - l'Avion - Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Looking for a way to show your students how real daily French conversations flow? This comprehensive French lesson will have your students reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The theme of this lesson is le billet d'avion. They'll get lots of exposure to real spoken French, while working on the four skills we strive to include in every lesson.

Included:

⭐  Video in French and English

⭐  Audio in French only

⭐  Fill in the blank exercise

⭐  Transcript in French

⭐  Role play situation in English

⭐  Useful sentences + expressions

Le billet d'avion - Airline ticket

  • You’ve just reserved and paid for a cheap flight online with Air France. Unfortunately, you notice that you have misspelled your name. This must be corrected or you’ll never be able to take your flight! You need to immediately call Air France and explain the situation. The employee doesn’t speak English, but together you find a solution. Your little mistake has turned into a fairly costly affair!

In the video, students will listen and read along as a typical French dialogue unfolds about un billet d'avion in France.

As students listen to the conversation, listening comprehension will improve, and they will learn lots of new vocabulary words and expressions. This is really the way French people interact, though it may never have shown up in the textbook!

The video lasts approximately two minutes, and it is easy to pause so that everyone has a chance to study the text.

The speech is not too fast in this video, and all of the words are written on the screen in French and with English translations.

The grammar in this conversation is quite varied. However, French learners at any level can learn a lot and benefit from these conversations through context. Your students will find the English translations to be most helpful, and they will see how it is nearly impossible to give direct translations from French to English.

LESSON PLAN (as you explain it to students):

Step 1: Watch the video and read along as you listen to the conversation. When you don't understand a word, just look down at the English translation. Be sure to take notes! It's ok if you don't understand all of the grammar. Just try to pay close attention to how the sentences are put together and how we do it differently in English.

Step 2: Listen to the audio recording without looking at the words and translations on the video. Do you remember what the words mean? You can use this recording to practice and fine tune your listening skills

Step 3: Print out the fill in the blank exercise, and write in the missing words as you listen to the recording. An answer key is provided. Once you have done this a few times, I challenge you to get out a blank sheet of paper and try writing it all! Just have that pause button ready!

Step 4: Read over the role play situation with a partner. Study the page with helpful French sentences and expressions, and invent your own dialogue. You can use some of what you learned in the video in your conversation!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "My students loved using this for being able to help them have conversations in class. Great resource!"

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This was fantastic, merci! More like this please!!!!"

La Randonnée - Hiking in the mountains

  • You are out hiking along a trail in the mountains, and you lose your balance and fall down. You may have sprained your ankle, and you can’t walk. Fortunately, you have your phone with you! You decide it would be a good idea to call a friend for help and to see if he can come and pick you up.

In the video, students will listen and read along as a typical French dialogue unfolds during une randonnée in France.
