This lesson was designed to be used on the first day of a year-long 11th-grade American Literature course. The lesson includes a poetry packet with 7 poems by diverse American authors. I know how crazy supply drop off/meet the teacher/open house can be for a teacher. Parents and students are coming and going, they want to talk to you, or they want to know what to do with their stuff, or where to find things.
