Do your Spanish students need some help with interpersonal speaking?  Are they struggling to have conversations in Spanish?  Let’s give them some guided support with these partner conversations about Hobbies & Free Time!  Both students will have the opportunity to ask and answer questions as part of a conversation, but with a lot of scaffolding to build confidence.  Guided conversations provide general guidance about how to keep the conversation going without telling students exactly what to say.

Have you tried Integrated Listening and Speaking activities with your Spanish students?  Use these IPA activities with the theme of Jobs and Professions to get students listening and responding- just like in tests like AAPPL for the Seal of Biliteracy!  Integrated Performance Assessments mimic real-world interactions, and these activities are great practice for communication!

These no-prep activities include everything you need to assign and go!  Each activity has 5 audio links (10 prompts total).  Students listen to the audio and record a logical response.  They will hear common expressions used on the AAPPL Test like “Hazme preguntas, cuéntame and dame detalles”. 

The teacher script allows you to correct with ease or even record your own voice if you choose. There are lots of notes and ideas for teachers so you know just how to use this activity! This project is designed for high school Spanish classes and includes google slides and handout to guide your students through creating a meaningful and educational Día de los Muertos altar. This project not only honors the memory of the deceased but also enhances students' Spanish language skills and cultural understanding.

What's Included:

• Link to google slides presentation: Contains the basic information from the handout but also has images/examples and gives a brief overview of Día de los Muertos and the traditional elements of an ofrenda.

• Altar Creation Instructions: Detailed guidelines for students to build an altar honoring a deceased family member or a historical figure from the Hispanic world. Instructions for researching traditional altar elements and their meanings.
