Interactive Vocabulary Notebook - Computer & I.T. Words | Distance Learning

By Innovations in Technology

This resource allows students to create an ongoing, interactive vocabulary notebook using either Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides. This is perfect for a technology class to use as part of a daily lesson to learn important terminology in a fun, interactive way.

Teachers distribute the notebook pages to students electronically, either using Google Drive or a classroom management system such as Edmodo (www.edmodo.com) or Google Classroom (https://classroom.google.com). Students make additional copies of the template page in their own version of the notebook and then enter the information on each slide (page). A list of 100 computer and technology terms is included to make it easy for the teacher to choose which word(s) to assign, and a full answer key with definitions is included to assist with grading. Additionally, a sample notebook page is included to help students understand the expectations.

Notebooks are included in both Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides and are editable. They are provided in 6 different colors to make it easy for the teacher to code each class period using a different color, or just to accommodate student preference.

The project was created for use as a daily warm up activity for grades 7-8 but could easily be used with upper elementary or high school students.

This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

Students: What I Think I Do - Week 1 Internet Activity

By Mark Holmes

I envisaged this to be a September week 1 internet activity. It will give students an opportunity to think about how other people perceive them. It could also be used as a lesson in how to search Google effectively or used as a dictionary / thesaurus activity, where students have to find descriptive words in order to search for appropriate pictures on Google Images.

These have been doing the rounds on FaceBook and email recently. You may have received posters / postcards entitled "Teachers...." or "Moms..." and then under the title are a series of photos with captions like;

What my friends think I do

What my mother thinks I do

What I think I do

What I really do

Each caption is accompanied by an image of what that person thinks about the other person or group of people.

The sample here is of the "Teacher..." postcard. This is NOT what I am selling. I am selling a similar template entitled, "Students..." It is laid out the same as the teacher one with the same titles (the word teacher has been replaced with student), however, the pictures are missing. Students must search Google Images for appropriate pictures that characterize themselves. The photo titles are as follows;

Students...

What my friends think I do

What my mother thinks I do

What society thinks I do

What my teachers think I do

What I think I do

What I really do

My students printed off the images and then cut them out and pasted them on.

Enjoy!!!!
