How/When To Use the Scenario Task Cards

✅ Role-Playing: Students can collaborate in pairs or groups to act out a variety of scenarios and demonstrate the difference between "real" and "fake" friends responses. Role-playing activities can also be used to demonstrate how to appropriately handle or navigate difficult situations related to friends/friendships. Students will be exposed to a variety of ways they can handle or respond to "fake" friends in certain situations. This activity can ultimately improve confidence, communication, and assertiveness skills.

✅ Icebreaker: This can be a great way to start a meeting, training session, or team-building activity. It’s also a great way to get students to get to know each other and buy into the purpose of an upcoming activity or lesson.

✅ Play Writing Exercise: Students can work in groups to create skits or scenes then perform the skits for the class.

✅ Writing Response: Students can be given a scenario to read and then write their responses. Students can switch papers with a partner who then reads their responses and determines whether they agree/disagree with their responses/approaches to these real-life scenarios/ situations as well as their explanations to whether or not the friends are real or fake (in these situations).

✅ Discussion: Students can discuss the Scenario Task Cards in groups or whole class. They can discuss things like "Is this person a real or fake friend - why or why not?" "What ELSE would a real friend do or say in this situation?", "How can you respectfully handle this situation?" “Why would you do that?”, and “What are some other options you could consider in terms of what you would do or say to a 'friend' like this?"

This resource is designed with realistic hypothetical bullying scenarios which students can use to think through responses and solutions and determine how they would handle bullying situations. Students can have meaningful reflections and education on how to handle difficult social situations that are common for many teens. You can encourage students to read the scenarios and decide how they should respond, explain why they would choose that response, and think about the impact that response would have on those involved.

This product features 28 highly relevant scenarios surrounding bullying and the different ways it can manifest itself in teenage life. The scenarios cover all aspects of bullying from a variety of perspectives (with answer keys). Students will use their knowledge of bullying to analyze the situations and decide the most appropriate ways to deal with them.

How to use these bullying scenarios with students:

• Give students scenarios to read, either in groups or individually.
• Students look at the scenario from the individual's perspective and answer the question provided.

This basic core French FSL bundle helps to review vocabulary related to describing people, their physical appearance and emotions. There are templates for interviewing a partner, "investigating" one's teacher and more low prep activities.

Resource 1 Describing People

Included:

This French Second Language FSL resource helps review basic personal questions with core French students. This is a great way to get to know your students.

Students can interview their classmates to get extra speaking practice. Next they can either write about the classmate (Tout sur ____) or about themselves with several templates to pick from (Tout sur moi!). When people do things we don’t like, we get upset, angry, hurt, and/or disappointed because they don’t act or behave in a manner that we want or expect them to. Sometimes, we try to force or manipulate them into acting and behaving a certain way. Conflict resolution is an important skill for students to learn, understand, and apply. Negative thoughts have a profound effect on students’ academic and social successes, behaviors, emotions, self-esteem, and happiness. Negative thinking and self-talk can hold them back and keep them from their full potential. In cognitive behavioral therapy, there are dozens of thinking errors that cause the mind to believe things that are just not true. Empower students to escape negative thinking by guiding them to reframe negative, faulty thoughts to positive thoughts. These engaging, highly relevant scenarios can provide students the opportunity to practice reframing their thinking in difficult situations that they experience everyday! These scenarios can aide students in taking notice of their thoughts in certain situations, step back and view the “bigger” picture, and decide how to act based on that more realistic perspective.

This resource includes 64 Reframing Negative Thoughts Scenario Task Cards  (both Colored and B&W/ With and Without Questions). The Task Cards include highly relevant scenarios that students can relate to followed by the question multi-part question: “What negative thoughts can arise from this situation and how can you reframe those thoughts to positive ones?” You can use the B&W Task Cards to print out on ANY color paper!

How/When To Use the Scenario Task Cards

• Role-Playing: The scenarios provide students with opportunities to discuss, understand, and role play the variety of effective ways they can navigate difficult situations and reframe their thinking to positive thinking. It’s a great opportunity for them to practice managing their emotions when dealing with difficult situations. You can use the Task Cards with no questions to generate your OWN questions! You may also use these scenarios to practice other skills including conflict resolution, effective communication, negotiating a compromise, etc.
• Icebreaker: This can be a great way to start a meeting, training session, or team-building activity. It’s also a great way to get students to get to know each other and buy into the purpose of an upcoming activity or lesson.
• Play Writing Exercise: Students can work in groups to create skits or scenes then perform the skits for the class.
• Writing Response: Students can be given a scenario to read and then write their responses: How would you respond in this situation? How can you reframe negative thinking to positive thinking and maintain a positive mindset? Students can swap papers with a partner who then reads their responses and determines whether they agree/disagree with their responses/approaches to these real-life scenarios/situations.
• Discussion: Students can discuss the Scenario Task Cards in groups or whole class.

When you respond without taking a moment to think about different aspects of the situation and how others might feel, it can lead to problems.
