I have been creating a series of standard based lessons and decorations. The one you are looking at now is the Citizenship one. It is aimed toward 7th GadeCivics, but can be applied elsewhere. This includes: vocab, "I can" statements, Duties, Responsibilities, Naturalization, 14th Amendment, etc. Check them out, then follow my page for more standard based items. Standards: REPORTING CATEGORY 2: ROLES, RIGHTS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CITIZENS SS.7.C.2.1: Define the term “citizen,” and identify legal means of becoming a U.S. citizen. SS.7.C.2.2: Evaluate the obligations citizens have to obey laws, pay taxes, defend the nation, and serve on juries.

To help us with our understanding of voting we are going to have a Jolly Rancher Election.
We will start first with a General Election
Each person will anonymously get a chance to vote for their favorite Jolly Ranchers
The votes will be counted and the top three will candidates will be running against each other.
If needed we will have a runoff to determine who will be included.
First you will need to do a little research.
Using your computer take a look at the different types of jolly ranchers that are available.

The objective of this lesson is to help students understand kindness and discretion when using social media sites, texting, and interacting with others through other technology. Next, students choose a topic about cyberbullying and brainstorm ways to deal with that issue as they create a poster using Poster My Wall (www.postermywall.com), a free Web 2.0 tool that does not require download. A Quick Start Guide for the program is included to help students navigate the program. These posters make a great addition to a school website, or can be printed and displayed in the hallways.
This is a great activity for the beginning of the school year to set the tone for expectations in online activity and communications. This lesson is suitable for technology classes, for counselors, or in any class that will use the Internet.
