French Valentine bundle writing speaking kindness friends February basic FSL

This Valentine’s Day FSL French bundle has lot’s of low prep activities for February. This resource focuses on themes such as kindness, friendship and love. Many handouts could be used any day you need a print and go lesson (example: week of kindness, jar of compliments or nonfiction reading comprehension text, an explosion box gift card craft).

Resource 1:

There are 2 Nonfiction texts (“The Legend of Saint-Valentine” and  “Love Locks- The Cities do not love them”) with comprehension questions (answer key included). Students may also watch the short film  « La boîte ». There are questions for class discussion or for students to respond independently in writing. Finally, students may also become music critics as they listen to a selection of songs curated for February. A template is included to help students share their opinion on the songs.

This basic core French FSL bundle helps to review vocabulary related to describing people, their physical appearance and emotions. There are templates for interviewing a partner, "investigating" one's teacher and more low prep activities.

Resource 4- Emotions

This French (FSL) resource has activities to encourage conversation on emotions while improving language skills (SEL or l'apprentissage social et émotionnel). Students can write in a daily emotions notebook, think about what activities make them feel better and write down their preferred activities. There are several sheets to practice writing emotion vocabulary and grammar. Finally there are templates for a mini project where students can reflex their emotional choices.

French sports hobbies questions du jour speaking writing activities core FSL

This basic FSL French bundle is designed to enhance conversation skills and vocabulary. With included writing and project ideas centered around favorite sports, hobbies, activities and adventure planning, students have the opportunity to practice new vocabulary both orally and in written form. This resource offers a low-prep solution for whole class discussions, partner activities, or even as a substitute plan.

-New vocabulary with engaging images and sentence starters

-Over 80 slide suggestions for "Questions du jour" or “Prof du jour"

-Writing or project ideas including two backpack templates and several graphic organizers (beginner and intermediate)

Questions du jour:

Ask daily questions as "prof du jour" or "bell ringers" on the topic of winter, pastimes and sports

Resource 3: Plan your adventure (similar to resource 4)

This French FSL resource helps to encourage speaking and writing about outdoor sports and activities. There are engaging templates included which focus on planning an outdoor adventure. Students respond orally to each question, as they add on to their “adventure” plan. This “print and go” resource takes the stress out of planning. This could also work as a step by step substitute  plan.

Students enjoy being creative as they add artwork and sentences to their paper bag backpack (templates included as well as other writing options).

Basic Vocabulary:

Outdoor activities

Limited list choices for location and wildlife

Basic personal information (emergency card)

Simple sentence structures (Je veux aller, Je veux manger…)

Helpful with backpack template:

Scissors, glue, tape, colored pencils, printed templates and a paper bag for each student

Resource 4: Plan my adventure beginner to intermediate level

The final resource has several of the same features as the basic 3D paper bag backpack. This resource has more intermediate sentence structure with some editable options. Teachers can change the questions to work with their class. The printable backpack template may also be better suited for older students.

This activity bundle can be done over several classes, by starting your FSL class off each day with a question of the day. Students write a sentence each day to add to the writing templates.
