Environmental Science WebQuest Internet Scavenger Hunt | Distance Learning

In this lesson, students learn interesting facts about environmental science and the work of Rachel Carson as they complete several projects including a WebQuest (Internet Scavenger Hunt) to answer questions about the topic.    A complete answer key is provided for the WebQuest for easy grading, along with resources for both teachers and students.  The student questions are included in both a print version and a digital (editable) version to make it easy for students to complete the lesson digitally or on paper.  Also included with this lesson is a word search puzzle which is perfect for early finishers or as a part of the lesson. 

This lesson is intended to be an introduction to the topic and was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in high school as well.  This lesson could be used in a science, history or technology class and is appropriate for Earth Day.  It is also a great lesson to leave for a substitute teacher!

This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

Her book, Silent Spring, sparked concern in how chemical pesticides were harming our environment. Carson helped to start the environmental movement in our country, which led to the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Earth Day Adding and Subtracting Fractions Pixel Art Activity Google Sheets

Engage your 6th-grade students with this fun and interactive adding and subtracting fractions mystery picture activity.

You can use this no-prep and self-checking activity to review your lesson.

Students will solve 20 operations using Google Sheets; a set of task cards with the same operations is also included.

Do you know the largest desert in the world? Do you know the longest river in the World? Who organized the first Earth Day? How long does it take for a styrofoam cup to decompose? What does extinct mean? These topic and more are included in the web quest.

Earth Day Plotting Points on the Coordinate Plane | Pixel Art Activity

Let your 5th and 6th-grade students practice while having fun with this Earth Day themed, engaging, no-prep, and self-checking plotting points on the coordinate plane mystery picture activity.
