This creative Art Room Gaming Badges Activity was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. *NOTE: this is a yearly event; it will take most of a full school year for any student to complete all 30 gaming badges…and that’s a good thing! *Students may try for any badge, in any order, however, students will want to start working on gaining easy gaming badges first, before trying to get the harder ones done. *Once students accomplish the criteria for a certain badge, either the teacher or the student may take colored pencils (only) to color the accomplished badge, so it looks similar to the completed version. *Move on to completing another great gaming badge. Good Luck! I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.
Social Dilemma Writing Prompts: Kindness Week Activities for Middle Schoolers
By Betsy Newmeyer
Tackle tough social dilemmas with your upper graders during Kindness Week with these 25 writing prompts that reinforce PBIS and SEL skills such as kindness, empathy, and responsible decision-making. After each social dilemma is posed, students first sketch, then finish the story with their own solution. These scenarios are great year round, but can be especially helpful as Spring Fever sets in and state testing draws nearer.
This resource includes 25 editable Google Slides and 25 printable writing prompts, both in full-page and half-page versions for your convenience. The printable PDF writing prompts include an image, the scenario to be resolved, 3 rectangles for the beginning-middle-end story sketch, and lines to write on.
In my 5th grade classroom, we use these dilemmas to first write, then talk about problems in class or out on the playground. It allows me to see how each student would approach a situation, and we can discuss in depth the ramifications of the choices we make as we solve each problem. The kids particularly enjoyed being allowed to sketch out the beginning, middle, and end of the story before getting down to the writing part. As a teacher, I love that the kids are actively engaged in writing and are practicing key skills such as writing the conclusion to a story and punctuating dialogue. It's another chance for me to reteach or reinforce writing skills in a very low-stakes kind of way.

✅ For durability, consider printing the Task Cards on gloss or regular paper and laminating them. Alternatively, you can organize them using a binder ring.
▶️ 16 Writing Response Worksheets (same writing prompts in the Task Cards)
✅ This resource also contains 16 Writing Response WORKSHEETS with lined spaces, allowing students to articulate their responses. Each worksheet corresponds to the questions on the Task Cards.
✅ The worksheets are provided in two variations, featuring distinct Dot Dude images in one version and the same image in the other.
✅ Both variations of the worksheets are available in both print and digital formats.
✅ These worksheets are versatile and can be effectively utilized for "Quick Writes," Do Now activities, Note-Taking/Reflection sessions, Formative Assessments, or seamlessly integrated into larger lessons or discussions!
▶️ List of Questions (Easy Access for Teachers)
Also included is a LIST OF QUESTIONS to allow easier access for teachers to read and select questions to work with. These are the same questions listed in the Task Cards and Worksheets.
