Daily French journals are a wonderful way to start class. You can set this journal up as a bell ringer activity or an early finisher journal. Your students will actively engage in practicing their French in a personalized and meaningful way. You will love this no prep printable daily French journal which includes activities for planning and gratitude. All you have to do is print and go! 200 pages are included. I like to print double sided which gives me 100 days of journaling. If you choose to have your students use these on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays, you can use this as a full year program.

This resource saves you valuable time by not having to write journal questions yourself. The sequence of tasks is designed to be repetitive so that the tasks remain familiar and achievable, yet the content changes every day to keep it fresh!

The second half of the pages is more challenging than the first as it includes reflexive verbs (even some idiomatic ones), and the vocabulary is at a higher level.

Watch the video I made so that you can see all of the rich material inside and I can show and tell you how I like to use this journal. You'll see that I printed mine double sided on pretty parchment paper and turned it into a booklet that really feels like a journal, but plain white paper and folders to store them in work just as well.

PRINTING:

8.5 x 11 letter paper works well for printing this document. All of the pages are black and white and do not require too much ink. I recommend printing the pages double sided. You can bind the pages together with staples, a binder clip, by punching holes in the pages and inserting into a folder, or you can have the pages bound together at a business supply store.

French TIC-TAC-TOE Conjugation Games - Present Tense - GROWING BUNDLE - No Prep Printables

Tic Tac Toe is a fun game that your students already know how to play, and it is a simple way to get them conjugating, speaking, and writing regular and irregular verbs in the present tense.

Each set of games includes two worksheets with 6 tic-tac-toe grids per page. One worksheet is for speaking answers, and the other one is for writing them. Photocopy on the front and back for a no-prep set of 12 grids for differentiated learning.

Students play in pairs, conjugating verbs so that they agree with the subject pronoun in each box, saying answers aloud or writing them to claim squares on tic tac toe grids. Three correctly conjugated verbs in a row wins the game. Students need to use different colored pens or markers when writing their answers.

These games work very well as 10 - 15 minute partner or station activities. Tic tac toe games are a terrific way to get in a quick, fun, and easy review!

20 questions games are a fun, effective, NO PREP way to practice forming French questions. Click on individual game links for specific details on each version. This bundle saves you 50%. These games work for any level as they are written in French and English. Want a real challenge for your upper levels or immersion students? Use the French only version!

Included with each game:

Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the game and use it as a whole class activity.

Many of the words may be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. After they've played the games a few times looking at the French-English version they feel more prepared to move on to the French only version.

One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word.

The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: OUI - NON - PARFOIS - RAREMENT - GÉNÉRALEMENT - PEUT-ÊTRE - CELA DÉPEND - PROBABLEMENT

Alternative game play:

To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it.

STEP 3:  Distribute the 1 page story, and either have students read it silently, or read it together as a class with the teacher calling on individual students to read a passage aloud. 

STEP 4:  Students answer ten comprehension questions either in written form as they read silently, or do the exercise orally as a whole class activity once everyone has finished.

Recommended lesson plan for listening comprehension:

This "water bottle" mini project activity can be done over several classes, by starting your FSL class each day with a “Question du jour”. Students write down their answers each day to add to their final written project.

Resource 3:

This user-friendly resource facilitates engaging classroom activities using text message conversations and event posters. Featuring fourteen text message conversations that can be easily printed and displayed around the classroom, students fill in tables and a daily schedule while reading each conversation. This can work as a scavenger hunt activity. After students can plan their own ideal week schedule filled with amazing events. This core French (FSL) resource reviews vocabulary related to common locations, places, or buildings. There are many suggested activities and games to get your students speaking and writing in French. This print and go resource takes the stress out of your week as you review basic French vocabulary.

-Game suggestions and partner activities (i.e.Cards for J'ai...Qui a..?, Sentence matching, Scoot, memory card game, Twenty questions)

Resource 5: Scavenger Hunt and Escape Room Task cards -Locations

Included in this Resource:

• Chasse au Trésor (Scavenger Hunt): Interactive scavenger hunt activity focused on locations. An activity where students complete sentences by finding the matching answer on another card (e.g., "Quand je suis malade, je vais ______"). This helps reinforce their understanding of when and why certain locations are visited.
• Jeu d'évasion- Escape room task cards: This printable task card activity includes 16 questions about locations. Students race to find the final 4-digit answer! Hang the task cards on the wall, place them on desks, or pass them around. Each answer will be decoded and recorded on a student answer sheet. The task cards are broken down into 4 levels with 4 puzzle types (decoders). Use these task cards for a partner escape room activity, SCOOT, scavenger hunt, or stations. There are countless ways to set it up, allowing students to be out of their seats, moving around, and learning!
• Guess the Location Game: A game where students use four hints (Cheveux, Coiffeur, Ciseaux, Shampooing) to guess a specific location.
• Mystery Maze Sheet: Students problem solve to find their way out of maze with questions on locations.
• Skit: Students can use the skit outline to build their own conversations in French.
