Where do we use school mathematics in real life?

The following complete guide sets out ALL the mathematics we do in middle and early high school used in the RSA Public Key Cryptosystem.

RSA Encryption is one of the most modern and powerful methods of encryption and is used by computer scientists, big banks and websites who need to secure data.

Do not be surprised, the list is complete and no other, more complicated mathematics is ever used in RSA Encryption.
Topics done in grade school: Factors, Multiples, Products, Times Tables, Division, Remainders, Integers, Prime Numbers, Composite Numbers, Exponents, Rules for Divisibility etc.

Topics not specifically done in grade school but for which 7th-10th grade students possess ALL the mathematics knowledge: Modular Arithmetic, Successive Squaring, The Euclidean Algorithm, The Euler Phi Function, Euler's Formula, The Extended Euclidean Algorithm

It is important that students know (and that teachers always remind them) when they are busy with these topics, that they are learning fundamental mathematics needed to encrypt data and secret messages.

• This product contains templates to help students write an introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion for an Expository Research Writing project on animals. The introduction has students begin with an interesting lead and include sentences with general and specific sentences on appearance, habitat, diet, life cycle, and predators. There are two introduction templates on one page. This page will simply need to be cut in half so that an introduction can be given to two students per page. The body paragraph template has space for four paragraphs with main idea titles and spaces for key words that will be turned into sentences. The key words will be found and highlighted in their research prior to filling out this template. This page will need to be printed front and back. Remind students to add transition words when they write their final draft. The conclusion has a blank for a transition word, which has helped my students remember to put one. It also contains three spaces for summary sentences and one space for a final feeling sentence to close the report. There are other instructions included in this packet.

This is a simple and to the point unit rate cornell notes. It provides definition and examples with a short summary of why do they think they would have to do this in real life! It could be printed and handed out or put on a LMS / board and have students write down the information in their notebook.

Many districts require teachers to post the learning goals for each lesson in the classroom. While this may seem like an unnecessary, extra step at first, it is truly beneficial to the students. I created this packet/spreadsheet to make goal posting simple, effective, and consistent. This can be printed out sheet by sheet and placed into their INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOKS, it can be distributed through a Google Sheet, or into a data folder. This is completely up to you. This is a bundle of 14 Lessons that introduce various topics of World Cultures. Topics include Types of Maps, Continents and Oceans, 50 States, Government, Economics, Culture, Inventions, and Landmarks.

This includes two Articles "How do hurricanes form? A step-by-step guide" and "How Do Hurricanes Form?" plus a graph titled "Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale" . After reading these two articles students are given a prompt for an expository essay on how hurricanes are formed. There is also an outline sheet included for students to use in order to help them organize their essay. Plus a rubric for easy grading of final essay.
