This resource is great for:
This activity is an online resource, that uses Google Forms, and is linked to your Google Drive. It can be completed by students online using tablets, phones or computers, and is easily assessed by teachers as all the answers are provided in a quick and easy format.
⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻
Time allowance to complete:
5-10 minutes - read through the text individually.
40-50 minutes - answer questions using the text as guidance (including extension activity)
Time allowance to assess:
A class set of activities might take around 15-20 minutes to mark; the teacher can then send the students their marks automatically, which allows them to read back through their work. Nearly all answers are not automatically generated, but only require a small amount of work to assign points. This is because the aim is to get students writing answers and not to just have multiple choice options.

Digital Halloween Photo Writing Prompts with Printable Word Bank Bookmarks
By Betsy Newmeyer
Get ready for Halloween with 5 no-prep, digital Halloween photo writing prompts set to music and printable word bank bookmarks. Great for elementary, middle school, and substitute teachers on the days leading up to or after Halloween. The Google slideshow includes 5 different Halloween-themed images. Each of the 5 slides includes an image, a story title, and a small word bank that can be edited or added to. When displayed in slideshow mode, each slide contains a musical soundtrack that should play automatically. You also get a set of 4 different printable Halloween word bank bookmarks. Use these bookmarks to jumpstart the storytelling process with 20 vivid vocabulary words. These bookmarks can be used in conjunction with the slides or separately.
TO USE
Either select one visual writing prompt to display on your interactive TV or other screen, or push this slideshow out to students via Google Classroom and let each student select which image they want to write about. Be sure to turn your volume up! In my own classroom, I ask students to analyze the image and song silently first before asking them to brainstorm story ideas with a peer. I guide my students to describe what they might see, hear, smell, or touch. Then we add in emotions we might feel, thoughts we'd have, and things we might say. To help support or challenge students, print and cut apart several copies of the word bank bookmarks. Ask students to think critically about what words might make sense in the story they want to tell and to include as many words from their list as possible/feasible. I promise your students will have a ton of fun while still being challenged to tell a great story.
Includes:
Google Slideshow: Each of the 5 slides includes . . .
Image
Song that should play automatically
Story title (editable)
Mini Word Bank with 5 words (editable)
