Writing a story can be so overwhelming! I have come with this writing pack that is intended to help your students organize their ideas before writing their first draft. This step-by-step activity groups every aspect of story writing such as: genre, setting, characters, details, etc. It also helps the students with their descriptive writing by asking them targeted questions. This is an excellent tool for beginner writers, struggling writers, or English Language learners.

Use the "Writing Buddy" resource as a complement resource to help your students become more independent when writing a short story.

You can use these resources for several days, giving students a chance to think through while writing their first draft.

This Valentine’s Day ESL bundle (English as a second language) has lot’s of low prep activities for February. This resource focuses on themes such as kindness, friendship and love. Many handouts could be used any day you need a print and go lesson (example: week of kindness, jar of compliments, nonfiction reading comprehension text, or an explosion box gift card craft).

Resource 2:

Introducing an explosion gift box writing project for your ESL class (English second language)! This simple and engaging craft is versatile, making it ideal for creating heartfelt messages to recognize special people. Perfect for personalized gifts during holidays such as Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, or Father's Day.

Included:

-Box and cover template to be printed on 8.5 X 11 cardstock (best results)

-Interior template for extra writing

-Decorative images such as hearts and hobby clipart

-French sentence suggestions (with English translations)

-Photo step-by-step visual instructions

Materials:

Scissors, Scotch tape, colored pencils, and printed templates (card stock works best for box- decorations and interior can be on paper)

Resource 3:

There are 2 Nonfiction texts (“The Legend of Saint-Valentine” and  “Love Locks- The Cities do not love them”) with comprehension questions (answer key included). Students may also watch a short film and answer questions. There are questions for class discussion or for students to respond independently in writing. Finally, students may also become music critics as they listen to a selection of songs curated for February. A template is included to help students share their opinion on the songs.

Simplify your December planning with this ESL resource designed to immerse your students in the holiday spirit with topics like design your ugly Christmas sweater (jumper) and later vote for your favorite amongst classmates. Be a music critic or share your opinion on some December topics. Finally, lot's of low prep holiday sheets to practice basic vocabulary. Students love to find the "mystery code" or "mystery word".

Resource 1- Short Basic Writing Prompts

Holiday themed flashcards are included to help with simple speaking activities such as design your own gingerbread house. There are also various drawing activities. This resource is versatile for whole-class, partner, or station-based activities.

Resource 2: Questions of the Day

Encourage speaking and writing in your ESL English Second language Classroom with this Holiday-themed “Questions of the Day” resource. Ideal for teachers seeking engaging warm-up activities with low prep. This Google slideshow resource is designed to encourage students to share their opinion on December topics.
