The first lesson is interactive and involves students cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to a neat copy on the template provided.

Writing an informational paragraph is an important writing project that gives students time to conduct research on a specific topic that is of interest to them. It sets the foundation for having students write an informational essay. Once they are finished with their masterpiece, they can share it with their friends and family members. This packet includes information to share with your students about what informational writing is, why we complete informational writing tasks, what steps to follow when writing the topic sentence, supporting sentences, and conclusion, how to make our writing flow so that it makes sense to the reader, and tips to look for when rereading and editing. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to complete an informational paragraph. Using this guide, students will write and complete a simple or complex informational paragraph. An example of a completed graphic organizer, an example of an informational paragraph, graphic organizer template, and two rough draft /final draft templates are included with this packet as well.

Firstly, there are eight reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:
- Martin Luther King
- Rosa Parks
- Barack Obama
- Nelson Mandela
- Mahatma Gandhi
- Jackie Robinson
- Muhammed Ali
- Frederick Douglass
- Ruby Bridges
These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.
Then, there are four biography writing units about Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Barack Obama and Nelson Mandela. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Writing a play is a perfect project that gives students time to write about an event that happened in their life or an event that they made up. Once they are finished, they can share it with different groups of people and have their friends play each character. This packet includes information to share with your students about what a play is, examples of plays they may see, what steps to follow when writing the beginning, middle and end of a play, and identifying the parts of a play. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write a play using a brainstorming play chart. An example of the play chart and template is also included. Martin Luther King Biography Writing Unit | 5th Grade & 6th Grade

A biography project about the life of famous civil rights activist, Martin Luther King. The NO PREP unit has been split into four separate lessons and is perfect for students in fifth grade or sixth grade for MLK Day or for Black History Month.

The first lesson is interactive and involves students cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to a neat copy on the template provided.

Writing about How to Solve a Problem is an important writing project that gives students the time to write about a problem they had to solve or are currently trying to solve. This product sets the foundation for having students learn about simple and advanced problem solving skills that so many students.
