LEGO Robots | Engineering Design Process | "Move It Along" Challenge
By Reece's Tech Shop by Scott Reece
Using the Engineering Design Process is one of the most basic ideas in the CTAE classroom. Whether your building robots, designing engineering projects or both, this activity will get the entire class engaged on one activity!
You have discovered a Radioactive Boulder in your town! Your town must work together to create a series of LEGO devices to move the boulder out of town.
Students design and build a project that will move a LEGO ball across the desktops in the classroom. Once the ball begins its journey across the tabletops, it can not be touched by human hands.

Career Card Game: "What Career" Interactive Activity
By Jeni Donath
Give your students the opportunity to explore many different careers in a fun and interactive way! This "What Career" card game is played similar to the card game "Apples to Apples" and my students LOVED it! It lead to a lot of conversation, sharing of likes and dislikes, and questioning of what specific careers were - it was so refreshing to listen to them talk non-stop about careers during these class periods! Included in the download is everything you need to play the game, including instructions and step by step guide!

Finding Your Passion - 20% Time Project | Distance Learning
By Innovations in Technology
Genius Hour, Passion Projects and 20% Time Projects have gained in popularity over the past several years as students seek relevance in their work, an authentic audience, and more control of their own learning. These lessons and resources will get you started with this project in your classroom.
In these projects, students are given time to work on a project that is of interest to them to further their learning. They brainstorm and research to find their topic, refine a guiding question, and then create a proposal for teacher approval before beginning work on the project. The final project involves a presentation to the class (or to a group from the community) about their project and a demonstration of the product they created.
The unit was developed for Middle School (Grades 6-8) but would be appropriate for upper elementary or high school as well. Lower elementary students could also do this project with modifications.
This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.
Included in this unit are the following:
• Unit Overview and Teacher Resources
• Student Expectations for the Project (editable)
• Project Proposal Assignment – Instructions, Expectations and Grading (editable)
• Student Proposal Worksheet – Print and Digital Versions (editable)
• Student Work Log – Print and Digital Versions (editable)

AVID Icebreaker Partner Interview Introductions Form for Team Building Activity
By Teach Savvy Store
Enhance team collaboration and communication with this AVID Partner Interview Introductions Form. This is a perfect icebreaker and team building activity where students have the opportunity to get to know each other while practicing public speaking skills. Simply print the Google Doc and give hard copies to students, or share the Google Doc with students electronically.
Interview introductions are a great way to break the ice with a new group of students. This excersize has them finding out about each other and then introducing the person they interviewed to the entire class or to smaller groups. It is a lot less threatening to talk about someone else rather than yourself!
⭐Save over 30% with the AVID bundle!⭐
⭐Save 30% with this Public Speaking Bundle!⭐
⭐Save 30% with this Public Speaking Card Game Bundle!⭐
Directions
Divide your class into pairs.
Each person interviews the other. The information gained forms a brief introduction speech they'll present to the class OR to smaller groups.
Establish a time limit for the interviews. 10 minutes works well. Keep track of the time and call change at the halfway point, 5 minutes, to ensure both people get an opportunity to be interviewed and to interview.
When students present the introduction may begin like this: "This is Mary and she was named after her mother..." and the students will go through each answer by presenting it like a speech.
*This resources is available for Outschool teachers to purchase without the need for extra licenses.
