The latest research found that students self-assessing and self-reporting on their progress in math is one of the top strategies to implement for encouraging student growth.

These 4th grade math self-assessment checklists and tasks are designed as a framework to allow your students to do that. They also allow the teacher to see quickly which 4th grade math concepts students have mastered and determine which ideas need further practice.

This comprehensive self-assessment resource includes 16 assessment checklists and 16 task pages aligned with 4th grade common core standards and Texas Standards.

The self-assessment math tasks are easy to understand and require very little teacher prep-just print or share digitally and allow students access to classroom manipulatives. Printable manipulatives are included as well.

The kid-friendly self-assessment checklists are easy for students to read and determine their math progress by choosing one of 3 options:

• I can do it by myself
• I am still learning and use examples to help me

The math self-assessment checklists are the size of a half-page, so students can glue the checklists right into their math composition book journals and show all their thinking on the following pages. The goal for this project is for your child/students to practice using area and perimeter. They will also practice spatial awareness as they plan for elements to fit within the area provided. Kingdom of Sweets Project Research Extension ($5 Value):

This project aims to help your child/students practice their research skills. They will pick one of the "realms" or regions based on the realms represented in the Nutcracker Ballet (when visiting after Marie/Clara rescues the Nutcracker/Prince). Children/students can practice following instructions and requirements by following the assignment's instructions. Two options are available to complete the report. 1. Predesigned Research Page or 2. Written Research Report (with introduction and conclusion). An optional presentation extension is available for students to create a project based on architecture, dress, or food research done on their report. Rubrics and student instructions are available for each report/and the Presentation.
