Want an easy way to get your students writing in French this Halloween ? Use these Halloween sentence stems / starters to get your French students writing or use them as French speaking activities. This resource includes four completely different ways to use these writing prompts. See the preview for more details. These sentence starters are perfect either for French immersion or for core French at any level or age. Use these with primary or secondary students.

Includes:

25 cards to print, cut out, and laminate: Use these no-prep speaking prompts year after year. This is a great way to enhance your program by practicing oral production during the month of October.

25 half page worksheets to use as writing prompts: These are meant for primary students as they include space to draw a picture and there is only space for a short paragraph. These are perfect for literacy centers.

25 full page worksheets to use as writing prompts: These are meant for middle school or high school students. These prompts are a helpful way to "get started" when looking for something to write about.

25 sentence stem strips: Print and cut out the strips, punch holes in the spaces provided, and hook them together with a ring. Students can read the sentence stems and complete the sentences by using words they have learned to form the remainder of their sentences. Provide students with a set of stem strips that they can work on at their own pace. Unlike the writing prompts, these strips are meant to elicit short answers.

Noël - One week French reading program for Christmas

Theme: Quand je me réveille le matin de Noël...

This one-week French reading comprehension program is suitable for upper-beginner to intermediate level primary or secondary levels. This program will have your students reading every day of the week, and is perfect for core or French immersion. These reading activities are specifically meant to be used along with my my Christmas themed vocabulary and writing programs which use a lot of the same words. The reading activities in this program include five separate reading comprehension activities for Monday through Friday. These reading worksheets are a great way to practice new themed vocabulary, see sight words in action, and to improve overall comprehension. Each worksheet includes a paragraph that should be read three times, once for each of the three questions that follow. Students check off the circled numbers each time they read the text and then they answer the corresponding questions.

✐ Noël - Week long French primary writing program for Christmas - Set 2 ✐

This one week French writing program will have your students writing every day of the week, and is perfect for French immersion. The writing activities in this program include five pre-writing and writing activities for Monday through Friday. These writing prompts are a great way both to introduce and to review writing. These vocabulary activities are specifically meant to be used along with my my Christmas themed reading and vocabulary programs which use a lot of the same words. Have a look at the preview so I can tell you more about the activities that are included! The images in the preview show resources from Set 1, but you can get a good feel for how the program runs.

Here’s how this program works:

✍Lundi:  Je dessine - Give students a drawing page with a writing prompt at the top. This will have them beginning to think about the writing theme for the week and is their first pre-writing assignment. Kids love drawing, and the pictures they draw will later serve as inspiration!

✍Mardi:  Mon livret de vocabulaire - Each student receives a booklet to help them explore the vocabulary related to the week’s writing theme. The front page includes the writing prompt of the week and an image. The second page includes over 80 frequently used French words. Page three lists 12 words that go along with the theme of the week, and the back page has space for ten words that students have either thought of on their own or looked up in the dictionary. The booklet is a simple one page printable that you can either fold in advance or have students do it on their own. Kids write their name on the front cover and you could have them color it.

✍Mercredi:  Vocabulaire - Students go back to their vocabulary booklets from Tuesday and choose ten words that they will include in their rough draft. The words they choose can be a combination of words they have chosen and themed vocabulary that was already written in the booklet. They then write down the chosen words on their vocabulary page that says “ Mots de vocabulaire utiles: J’utiliserai ces mots dans mon paragraphe.”

✍Jeudi:  Mon brouillon - Students write a rough draft of their paragraph using the vocabulary words selected on Wednesday. The brouillon page includes a 5 point checklist at the top for students to evaluate their work for themselves before writing the final copy on Friday. This will motivate students to look over their work and make corrections. 

✍Vendredi:  Ma copie propre - The fifth and final step in this writing program is to write the final copy. Students should feel very confident in writing about this week’s theme by now. At the top of the final copy page they’ll see the writing prompt and question words that they can ask themselves while writing:  qui - quoi - quand - où - pourquoi - comment

Vocabulary theme: Qu'est-ce que je vais offrir comme cadeaux de Noël cette année?

This one-week French vocabulary acquisition program will have your students working with a set of 12 words or phrases every day of the week, and is perfect for French immersion, core French, and both primary and secondary during the month of December. These vocabulary activities are specifically meant to be used along with my my Christmas themed reading and writing programs which use a lot of the same vocabulary. Have a look at the previews so I can show you more about the activities that are included! The images in the preview show resources from Set 1, but you can see how the program runs and you can view the 12 words used in this set in the thumbnail image. This program includes 7 pre-writing and writing activities for you to choose from for vocabulary exposure on this theme for one whole week - Monday through Friday. French Vocabulary Weekly Unit - Mon restaurant préféré, c'est...

This one-week French vocabulary acquisition unit will have your students working with a set of 12 words or phrases every day of the week, and is perfect for French immersion or core French.
