3rd Grade Speech Therapy Games

Secret Mission Behavior Management Activity to encourage positivity

By Until the Pieces Fit

Are you looking for an easy way to improve student behaviors? This is a fun, easy, print and go activity.

I use the secret missions with my students. Simply print the packet, cut out, and post the missions in your room (be sure to cover each mission with a "secret mission" card".

Then the magic begins. Each morning during your morning meeting time chose a kiddo to uncover a mission. Discuss the mission, the importance of it, what it looks like. I generally have a secret task force who also watches for the behaviors. Then when your children are "caught" they earn a party point/tally/ball (whatever reinforcer you use) for your class. Currently my kids are working to earn hot chocolate with toppings.

I hope this is something fun for you and your kiddos. Please be sure to follow me for additional resources and updates!

UFLI GAMES | Interactive Phonics | Dots and Boxes | Suffixes and Prefixes

By Puddle Jumpers Speech Pathology

Are you using UFLI Foundations and need a little extra fun practice following your UFLI or science of reading phonics lessons? This fun Dots and Boxes game will supplement your UFLI word work lessons. Use it for Friday fun, fast finishers or students that need a little boost.

Who can connect the dots, make the most boxes and win? Low prep, just print and go. Once your students know how to play you can pair them up for some extra practice together. All the games align with the UFLI Scope and Sequence Lessons 99 to 106.

DISCLAIMER: This product is not endorsed by UFLI Foundations nor is it affiliated in any way. No part of this product copies any material found in the manual or the toolbox.

Contents

This pack contains:

-15 game boards in color for lessons 99 to 106

-15 game boards in black and white for lessons 99 to 106

-Separate games for lesson 99 -s, -es; lesson 100 -est, -er; lesson 102 -ful, -less; lesson 104 -pre, -re; to help with differentiation.

You will need:

2 different colored markers, pencils or highlighters.

How to play

Take turns to join two adjacent dots with a horizontal or vertical line.

If a player completes the fourth side of a box they read the word, initial that box and must draw another line.

When all the boxes have been completed the winner is the player who has initialed the most boxes.

The games are an extension to UFLI Core Lessons:

Step 4: blending drill

Step 5: new concept

Step 6: word work

The games are a great way to provide extra practice in blending to reinforce the student’s ability to decode and to blend sounds together. Additional practice can help with automaticity in decoding;

Once the student has received the lessons on the new concept work, the games can be used for additional practice at word-level skills. The student can read the word for reading practice while they are playing a fun and engaging game.

The students can spell the word using their manipulative letters or a whiteboard and marker. Ask them to read the word to their playing partner, their playing partner can spell/write the word.

What other teacher’s are saying about my other products:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lucky Squares: My students beg me to play this whenever they have a bit of free time!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Honeycomb Race: These are awesome! Such an easy extension from UFLI lessons to use for centers, homework, small groups. I love these!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My students love playing the Dots and Boxes game! It provides great practice and reinforcement of the skill we're working on in UFLI. I have extra copies that I keep for fast finishers, so they can play with a classmate.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Capture the Flag: This is a great resource! I love UFLI and having an additional game to practice the sound we are working on is very engaging for my students.

HALLOWEEN Speech Therapy Social Skills Mixed Group Game|Opinion Writing Activity

By My Speech Therapy Go-Tos

Get your students talking! This engaging HALLOWEEN Speech Therapy Social Skills Mixed Group Game | Opinion Writing Activity is the perfect fall social skills group or Halloween writing activity! Your students will love choosing the surprise questions each round and expressing opinions and interests with their peers. This Fall and Halloween social questions conversation game is perfect for a:

  • morning meeting activity
  • brain break activity
  • icebreaker activity
  • lunch bunch activity
  • speech language therapy group activity
  • mixed group activity
  • opinion writing activity
  • Halloween Party game
  • 5 senses activity

This fall social skills group game is versatile and fun for everyone involved! The questions are based on a topic everyone of every skill level can relate to - the 5 senses! Your students will love talking about their favorite fall and spooky things! Students will answer opinion questions about their favorite sights, sounds, tastes, smells, and textures related to the fall season and Halloween!

This SEL activity was designed to get your students talking and increase student engagement. Each question is a SURPRISE and the variety of questions is endless!

I am able to adapt this conversation starters SEL game to target a variety of goals based on my students' different speech and language goals. I have used it to target:

- Conversation Skills

- Inferencing & Perspective Taking - students can guess which choice their classmate will choose based on what they know about them. They can also practice answering why they believe their classmate made a specific choice.

- Choice Making

- Sentence Building/ Sentence Expansion

- Expressing Opinions

- Reasoning

- Conjunctions

- Asking Questions

- Answering Questions

- Agree and Disagree Respectfully

- Articulation - this mixed group game naturally elicits multiple trials with the following sounds/words/phrases (If you could only choose one, I would choose, because, see, smell, hear, listen, taste, feel, touch, etc.).

- Vocabulary / Concepts related to Fall, Halloween, or the Five Senses

How do you play?

* Choose one of the 5 senses to focus on for each round and use the corresponding board and picture cards. Picture cards should be cut out and placed in a basket or some kind of container. Students will then choose two picture cards from the container (without peaking!) and place them on the designated boxes on the board to generate the If You Could Only Choose One question.

* Cards can be returned to the container when finished to allow for additional question combinations.

What does each product come with?

* Fun engaging questions that everyone can relate to! All five senses are covered in each product (see, smell, hear, taste, touch). Each of the five senses comes with a designated board and picture cards. There is also a blank board and blank cards if you'd like to create/write your own.

* Each board comes with a sentence starter to assist students in sentence building / sentence expansion. There is also room to generate your own sentence from scratch on each board.

* In addition to sentence writing space on each of the five senses boards, if you have students at different writing levels, the product also comes with 3 different levels of writing prompts, plus a blank template for independent writing.

Thank you for your interest! Enjoy!

By Teach Social Skills

Group perspective taking activity targets social awareness, finding common interests, and conversation skills.

Kids to have fun learning about others and sharing about themselves. Students have to think like their peers in order to try to guess what their peers would choose.
