3rd Grade Special Education Games

Are you looking for an easy way to improve student behaviors? This is a fun, easy, print and go activity.

I use the secret missions with my students. Simply print the packet, cut out, and post the missions in your room (be sure to cover each mission with a "secret mission" card".

Then the magic begins. Each morning during your morning meeting time chose a kiddo to uncover a mission. Discuss the mission, the importance of it, what it looks like. I generally have a secret task force who also watches for the behaviors. Then when your children are "caught" they earn a party point/tally/ball (whatever reinforcer you use) for your class. Currently my kids are working to earn hot chocolate with toppings.

This hands-on lesson not only teaches about the sense of taste but also improves observational skills, teamwork, and descriptive language.

Perfect for classrooms or small groups, this activity pairs students up as they take turns being blindfolded and guessing the flavors of the Skittles they taste. Their partner tracks the results on a simple worksheet, marking "Yes" for correct guesses and "No" for flavors they couldn't guess.

Excellent as part of a whole unit on the Five Senses.

Count & Match File Folder Game:

This is a great way for your students to practice one-to-one correspondence as well as number recognition. There are #2 pages of numbers 1-10 as well as two pages of spaceship-themed flashcards with the corresponding dots 1-10.

Print, laminate, and attach the #2 spaceship pages with numbers on them to a file folder. Then cut out and laminate the spaceships with the number dots on them.

Once everything is laminated attach a velcro dot on the front of each spaceship number and then attach velcro dots to the opposite side of the spaceship cards with the number dots on them.

File Folder Shape & Color Matching Game

This is a great file folder game for your students. It’s a great way for your students to not only practice matching shapes together but colors as well!

Print, laminate and attach the #2 pages of spaceships with shapes on them to a file folder. Then cut out and laminate the planets with the border around each one.

Once everything is laminated attach a velcro dot on the front of each shape spaceship attached to the file folder and then attach velcro dots to the opposite side of the planet shape cards.

Count & Match File Folder Game:

This is a great way for your students to practice one-to-one correspondence as well as number recognition. There are #2 pages of numbers 1-10 as well as two pages of farmer-themed flashcards with the corresponding dots 1-10.

Print, laminate, and attach the #2 tractor pages with numbers on them to a file folder. Then cut out and laminate the farmers with the number dots on them.

File Folder Uppercase & lowercase Letter Match:

This is a great file folder game for your students. It’s a fun way for your students to practice matching the correct Uppercase and lowercase letters together. There is #2 pages of Uppercase letters as well as #2 pages of lowercase letters.

Print, laminate and attach the #2 pages of the Uppercase Letters (rainbows) to a file folder. Then cut out and laminate the clouds with the lowercase letters on them.

I would recommend getting small velcro dots and attaching them to the front of the rainbows as well as the back of the pieces of the clouds to make the matching process easier.

Themed:

This is a great file folder game for your students. There’s two pages of each set of shapes. Print one out, laminate it, and attach it to the file folder. Cut out the second page of rainbow shapes (the pages with a border around each separate rainbow) and laminate them as well.

Print, laminate, and attach the first #2 pages (without the border around each separate leaf) to a file folder. Then cut out and laminate the colorful leaves with borders around them.

Once everything is laminated attach a velcro dot on the front of each leaf that is attached to the file folder. Then attach velcro dots to the opposite side of the leaf flashcards. Students will then practice matching and saying the correct colors.

Game - Fall Leaf

Themed:

Print, laminate and attach the #2 pages with numbers on them to a file folder. Then cut out and laminate the strips with the police officers on them.

Once everything is laminated attach a velcro dot on the front of each number strip and then attach velcro dots to the opposite side of the paper strips with the number of corresponding police officers on them.

These no prep and engaging task cards are a great way to practice identifying and matching emotions! They also provide extra fine motor skills practice. Students will identify the emotion on the left side of the card and find the corresponding emotion. They can clip a clothes pin on the emotion or circle it.
