If you teach Core French (FSL) to grades 4-8 and struggle to engage, interest and get them excited about French, then this is the bundle for you. It contains every single Core French product from my store.

My students have been known as low-level and require high levels of engagement. My products match that and are ready to be used, require no prep and are quick and easy to project and GO.

This Valentine’s Day FSL French bundle has lot’s of low prep activities for February. This resource focuses on themes such as kindness, friendship and love. Many handouts could be used any day you need a print and go lesson (example: week of kindness, jar of compliments or nonfiction reading comprehension text, an explosion box gift card craft).

Resource 1:

There are 2 Nonfiction texts (“The Legend of Saint-Valentine” and  “Love Locks- The Cities do not love them”) with comprehension questions (answer key included). Students may also watch the short film  « La boîte ». There are questions for class discussion or for students to respond independently in writing. Finally, students may also become music critics as they listen to a selection of songs curated for February. A template is included to help students share their opinion on the songs.

-New vocabulary with images (30 flashcards) and suggested activities

-Writing prompts with a focus on friendship and kindness (see below)

-Valentine cards to print and color (with and without words)

Resource 3:

This basic French FSL resource (Question du jour/chef du jour) helps to engage students with conversation starting photographs.  Students will all want to share their opinion while they practice simple French sentences. Immersion students can expand on responses with “parce que…”

Resource 4:

Introducing an explosion gift box writing project for your FSL class (French second language)! This simple and engaging craft is versatile, making it ideal for creating heartfelt messages to recognize special people. Perfect for personalized gifts during holidays such as Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, or Father's Day (La fête des mères, la fête des pères, et la Saint-Valentin). This activity can work with French immersion and core French students.

Included:

-Box and cover template to be printed on 8.5 X 11 cardstock (best results)

-Interior template for extra writing

This newly updated *94 page* unit will cover you for roughly 7-9 Core French 1-hour classes and features a teachable slide deck, worksheets, lesson plans, rubrics, success criteria, a word wall, a phrase wall and numerous suggestions to get your kids having fun, moving, interacting and legitimately enjoying French class with you. The entirety (or parts of) the unit can easily be left with a substitute teacher and you need a quick lesson plan. It's ALL here!

As with all of my Core French products, this one is geared toward a LOW-LEVEL middle-school classroom (grades 3-7). It's high-energy, interactive, highly engaging and requires no prep. It ties in to some science concepts for grades 5 & 6 on biodiversity and adaptations. It features a significant amount of game-based learning and some project-based learning

There are three longer projects included with this unit: "Mon drôle d'animal" which has them building a silly animal and describing its body parts and details; "Mon animal perdu," a poster project which has them creating a poster for their missing pet, and "Une interview à la radio" which has them writing a radio script to find their lost pet with a partner.

• "Mon collier d'animal" - Two differentiated versions of this activity that will have students designing their pet's collar for their final project.

• "Une interview à la radio" - A partner skit-writing activity where they'll take turns pretending to be the "animateur" and the "invité" and either record their radio interview, present it to the class, present it to you, or use other means like FlipGrid (if your board allows it) to show you their learnings.

• "Mon animal perdu" - A formal rubric which focuses on their ability to meet the checklist criteria, to be creative, or to be effective communicators in the radio interview.
