2nd Grade French Activities

Do you teach a foreign language to your students? This packet contains two center activities that help teach colors in English, Spanish and French! It is differentiated so that students who need more help can use the colored word cards and those who are more advanced can use the black and white cards. The first center activity, the students match the color name to the color splat on the color mats. There are color mats available in English, Spanish and French with word cards available with each color. Use Velcro on the word cards and the blank spaces to allow the word cards to stay in place. The second center activity is a matching/memory game where students pair the colored splat card with the correct color word. This center is also available in English, Spanish and French. Enhance your classroom with this core French FSL resource to review body parts, colors, and basic grammar. A great option for Halloween or anytime! It is packed with activities to get students drawing, speaking and writing! Students will create a monster, describe a monster to a friend and vote for their favorite class monster. Finally, there are fun activities with flashcards, "Qui-suis-je?" and task cards to get your students interacting in French.

This is a back to school French Second Language FSL art resource to help build a class community with students. Get to know your students as they write about themselves with this low prep activity. Students are also encourage to add color, symbols and sketches to these "Tout sur moi!" or "Me Voici" posters. This resource is great way to decorate your classroom or bulletin board.

Teaching French reading comprehension has never been easier! The theme of this French reading comprehension unit is "Ce matin avant de venir à l'école". This five day French reading unit will have your students reading in French every day of the week, with zero prep for you. Just print and go!

This set of French reading comprehension passages includes five separate reading activities for Monday through Friday with three comprehension questions each.

These one page, no prep reading worksheets are a great way to practice themed vocabulary, see sight words in action, and to improve overall comprehension.

Each French reading activity includes a paragraph to be read three times, once for each of the three questions that follow. Students check off the circled numbers each time they read the text, and then they answer the corresponding comprehension questions.

This is a really fun game to practice with your students who are learning vocabulary about LA NOURRITURE, and it involves NO PREP once you've printed and cut out the cards. I've included both a beginner and intermediate version of the game. The beginner version has the words written out and the intermediate version only shows pictures. Have a look at the thumbnails to see what they look like.

Each version includes 32 cards. Depending on class size you could either give each student more than one card or have them play with a partner. I recommend printing out and laminating these cards if possible so that you can use them over and over again.

You may also enjoy 30 French speaking questions - La nourriture - Food

Here's how this game works. Once each student has a card (or cards), the one who has the card that says "Je commence" starts the game. He says, for example, Je commence! J'ai une fraise. Qui a une orange? The person who has the card with an orange on it says, J'ai une orange. Qui a du bacon? And so the game goes on until the last card is called and that student's card will say, "J'ai fini!"

Another idea is to prepare two sets of cards, divide your class into two groups and let each group have a go to see which team can get through the entire deck of cards the fastest. If the vocabulary is completely new you could start out with the beginner deck and as the words become more familiar you could move on to the intermediate level. It's really a lot of fun, and though you can play with younger students the older ones love this game just as much.

Looking for a fun, engaging, no prep way for your students to practice conjugating 35 common regular French ER verbs in the present tense? They're really going to enjoy making verb chains! This is a great literacy center or independent work activity. They'll love hanging them up around the classroom! See the preview for more details, and scroll down to read the list of verbs that are included.

• Each verb page has ten strips to cut out.
• The first strip is for the student's name.
• The next nine strips are for conjugating the indicated verb with JE - TU - IL - ELLE - ON - NOUS - VOUS - ILS - ELLES.

STEP 1 - Students begin by filling in the blanks to add the correct present tense endings. The number of letters needed for the endings is indicated by the number of blanks provided to help students while learning or reviewing conjugations.

STEP 2 - Cut out the strips and paste them together forming conjugation chains.

This one-week French reading passage comprehension program will have your students reading in French every day of the week. These reading passages following the theme "Pendant les grandes vacances d'été, j'aime bien..." include five separate reading activities for Monday through Friday with three comprehension questions each. Dots and Boxes Game - Counting to 60 - French or ANY language - No prep printable

An easy and fun no-prep game that will elicit a lot of exposure and pronunciation for the counting to 60 (just what you need to be able to tell time) in FRENCH or ANY LANGUAGE! This is a one-page dots & boxes game including directions. This game could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or played on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools. This game is included in my Ça y est, Je parle français! French 1 & 2 curriculum.

Objective: Complete more boxes than your component. Each player draws lines using a different color. On your turn, make a horizontal or vertical line from one dot to another. Say the letters on either side of the line you drew. If you complete a box on your turn, draw an X in the box using your color. Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who got the most.

The theme of this French writing prompt unit is "Dans mon quartier, il y a . . ." This five day French writing program is suitable for immersion and core programs. The unit includes five pre-writing and writing activities for a whole week. These writing prompts are a great way both to introduce and to review writing in French.
