Fraction of Amount Clip Cards

By LittleStreams

These clip cards are a great way to test students’ ability to find fractions of objects using a physical multiple choice system. It includes 36 cards covering questions from ‘half of’ to ‘four fifths of’. The given possible answers have been carefully chosen to allow teachers to spot any misconceptions students may have about the topic.

The idea of this activity is that students work out the answer to a given question, then clip a clothespin/ peg or a paperclip to what they think is the correct answer.

This activity works equally well when the cards are laminated. Students simply circle the correct answer using a dry erase marker. Alternatively, you can print these on paper, hand out to your class at the end of the lesson, so they can put their names on and circle the correct answer, serving as a great exit ticket/plenary to the lesson.

These cards are in colour, but print equally well in grey scale for cost savings.

You can get this as part of our Clip Card Bundle 2 at a discount.

Adding Fractions with Like Denominators Maze *Differentiated*

By Rachel Strehlow

This maze activity is a fun way to have students practice their knowledge of like denominator fractions. Students begin in the "Start Here" box and solve fraction equations to move through the maze. They must solve them correctly to get out of the maze!

This resource would be great as a differentiated activity during stations or centers. There are three levels of challenge, depending on what you think your students need:

  1. Adding unit fractions
  2. Adding fractions with like denominators
  3. Adding fractions with like denominators that equal greater than 1 and converting to a mixed number

The mazes all have the same path (for easy correcting no matter which maze your students are doing), so the worksheets are best done one at a time or differentiated.

Enjoy!

Identifying and naming fractions on a number line 1/2 thru 1/8 Boom Cards

By TamiaDesigns

When your students are working on fractions, do they look at a line with 3 markers on it, (at the 0/1, 1/2, and 2/2 points), and tell you that the line is divided into thirds instead of halves because they see three lines? This activity will help them focus on how many line segments there are instead, accurately identifying fractions from 1/2 to 1/8.
There are 14 cards with 2 different kinds of question in this self-checking BoomLearning online activity:

  1. Identify how many segments are marked on a line, and identify the fractions (halves through eighths) that it's been divided into;
  2. Drag the proper fractions to the correct place on the number line, ignoring the distractors.

Fractions in Spanish. Learning and practice. Fracciones. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade

By Ms Garcia Store

Fantastic PowerPoint presentation to teach, learn and practice fractions in Spanish.

- What is a fraction?

-Structure of a fraction (numerador and denominador)

- Vocabulary (entero, medio, tercio, cuarto, quinto, sexto, séptimo, octavo)

Eight animated slides explain each of these words.

-2 quiz games to practice:

- How much pizza have I eaten so far? (¿Cuánta pizza he comido hasta ahora?)

- How much pizza is left? (¿Cuánta pizza queda por comer?)

The kids try to guess the answer in both games using fractions. Then they click on the answer button to know if they are right. The two sets of questions are shown in random order each time so that the children do not know the answers beforehand.

Instructions:

When you first open the document, you will be prompted to enable content that is blocked for security reasons. That content is nothing more than the Visual Basic code for the next slide button to achieve random order in both games. Please accept it in order to get the slides of the games in random order.

In the games, you are free to put your own Bitmoji.

I recommend that you watch the preview video to know how it works and where to click to activate each of the animations but it is really intuitive and easy to use. Your students will love this resource and they will learn by playing.
