Bring the fun to your 3rd grade math review for multiplication facts! Would you love to see your students actively engaged in building multiplication fact fluency? Even telling you that basic multiplication facts fluency practice was the best part of the day? If so, this high-engagement 3rd grade multiplication project based learning activity is perfect for you. Yep… memorable project-driven mixed multiplication facts review ready to go! Just print and find some pirate music to set the mood.

Your students will love pretending to be swash-buckling pirates while mastering their multiplication facts at the same time. Students will be actively engaged as they tap into their imagination to add a story to their multiplication facts learning.

You will love how easy it is to bring the fun to your multiplication facts review. All you need to bring a pirate story to life is included in this download. Just print enough copies for your students, find the soundtrack to your favorite pirate movie, and put on your best pirate voice to introduce the day. Your students will do the rest!

There are two versions of the multiplication pirate project are included in this download.

✅  The first set of student pages and answer keys are for the pattern facts only These include the x1, x2, x5, x9, and x10 facts for factors 1-10. 

✅  The second set of student pages and answer keys includes the facts for x3, x4, x6, x7. and x8 have been included so that you have a product that covers the variety of multiplication facts within 100.

You’ll get a boatload of multiplication fact problems to be solved in 6 activities

➡️ Use multiplication to determine a pirate name

➡️  Use multiplication to assemble a crew and buy supplies for the ship

➡️  Write multiplication stories that represent multiplication sentences about pirate adventures

➡️  Follow multiplication fact clues to decode the treasure map

➡️  A culminating art activity worthy of the hallway.

I use this no-prep multiplication project as an end of unit assessment, but it is flexible enough to be used as sub-day plans, part of the multiplication unit lesson, review before a math test, or a fun multiplication activity to keep the novelty alive in your math classroom.
