Through this activity, not only will they have fun working together in cooperative groups or teams or individually to solve the puzzle, but they will also have the opportunity to practice reading the latitude and longitude coordinate grid system (absolute location). Each moment is a teaching moment, and this will allow reinforcement of their map reading skills. They will use the absolute locations that are provided on the key and identify the points on the coordinate grid, drawing one line from one point to another. End the end, they have a photo to color and decorate!
