10th Grade English Language Arts Internet Activities

This resource should accompany The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. These editable Google Slides ask students to fill out a timeline of important events from Act 1 of the play and make a prediction for Act 2 based on what they have read.

1.9 Hook (Dress Code) Johnny is the bomb-diggity of the school, and comes to school every morning ignoring dress code. Although he is clearly breaking the rules, he gets away with it. When YOU break the same rule, however, you are stopped in the hallway and sent to the office for a dress code violation. Have you ever seen a situation like this happen? If so, how did it make you feel? Did you do anything about your feelings? SS.7.C.1.9 Define the rule of law and recognize its influence on the development of the American legal, political, and governmental systems.

This resource can be used as a pre-reading activity for The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett or The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. This resource includes two student worksheets which utilize an interactive website about the Frank hideout. Students will explore the website to find answers to the questions provided, and they will learn a little more about the people who were in Anne Frank's life. A presentation with answers to the questions is included in this resource.

Works with any documentary. Students fill out worksheet during and after a film. Great way to practice release of responsibility and ensure students are paying attention to the film. Works well in Language Arts and History classes.

Idioms can be tricky for English language learners or students with language learning difficulties to understand and they often need to be specifically introduced to them.
