Felt Board (Flannel Board) Songs and Poems

Felt-boards (or flannel boards) are a fabulous method of sharing music and rhythm with children by using visual props along with songs. My collection of songs and poems will help you to use your felt-board to its fullest potential. This set includes 30 songs and poems that are appropriate for preschool and kindergarten, and are perfect for circle time, group time or music class. I have included lots of old favorites, but some are new and fun songs and fingerplays that will enhance your curriculum.
The set includes more than a hundred adorable graphics which have recently been updated. All you have to do is print out the set and cut out the graphics. (You can laminate the images and attach felt or Velcro to the back if you want to use them on a flannel board or felt board.) Words to each song or poem are included and can be printed and glued onto 3x5 inch index cards.

Social Emotional Learning Activity: Sing and Chant with A Hug is for Holding Me

A wonderful book and extension lesson to teach children about caring for others! Use this book to deepen social emotional learning in your classroom while still teaching music. Discuss why hugging and caring for others is important, how children feel when they hug/are hugged by someone and practice caring by rocking stuffies/dolls to the song that I wrote for this book. Additional chants are great for practicing rhythm, steady beat, ta and ti-ti and triplet rhythm decoding. There is even a worksheet for additional practice which can be used digitally. Use drums and rhythm sticks for the chant if desired. Great as a Valentine's Day activity or any time of year! Great for ages PreK-3rd and the lesson can be used with/without the book.

Chants for Books Bundle: Perfect for Steady Beat and Movement!

Use these chants to introduce more literature into the classroom and make the books you are using relevant to music! Use the chant to "Freeda the Cheetah" to explore movement and play along with rhythm sticks. Follow up with a lesson on rhyming words. The chant for "One Lonely Fish" is perfect for keeping a steady beat and making this book more engaging for your little ones. Use the chant in "Pokko and the Drum" to play along with Pokko the frog on her adventures. "The Very Quiet Cricket" is great for teaching whisper voice. Finally, try to wake up the elephant from his sleep in "Wakey, Wakey, Elephant"! Use the additional activities with the some of the chants to extend your lessons. Practice rhythm decoding as well as matching of which object grows in which direction (from the Up, Down and Around book) in addition to getting exercise as you move! Looking for a way to incorporate the Little Blue Truck books into your music classroom or jazz up your reading time of the Little Blue Truck series? These songs written for the Little Blue Truck books summarize what happens in the book while using the almost the same exact melody. Once your students have learned the first melody for Little Blue Truck, the melody stays mostly the same but the lyrics change with each different Little Blue Truck book that you own.
