Math in Speech Therapy - Quantitative Concept Sentences & Following Directions
By The SLP Curriculum
Target language comprehension & sentence production of quantitative concepts using your speech therapy students' math curriculum! These teaching scripts, Task Cards, & NO PREP Worksheets will help our students understand the concepts Each, Every, Some, A Few, Several, Many, A Lot, More, Less, Fewer, Greater, All, None, Equal, Match, Most, and Least by targeting language in the context of math. This resource contains math task cards and worksheets to ensure that what we do in our therapy room will generalize in the classroom for our students with speech and language deficits.
All SLPs knows how much language is embedded in our students’ math lessons. It is often taught in the classroom through following directions (“Point to the group with many”) or questioning (“Are they equal?”), but we know that our students are often unable to follow the directions or answer those questions.
This resource solves that problem! Help students to understand the quantitative concepts needed to learn counting and describing numbers, while emphasizing expressive language development in order to participate in classroom discussions. Teaching these concepts while using numbers and math concepts allows for quicker generalization into the classroom.
Included in this resource:
Teaching Scripts for quantitative concepts Each, Every, Some, A Few, Several, Many, A Lot, More, Less, Fewer, Greater, All, None, Equal, Match, Most, and Least
Task Cards/Flash Cards can be used to drill concepts to improve retention. They can be paired with motivating board games. These task cards include:
Sentence Frames - 36 sentence frames to use as a guide with task cards
NO PREP Worksheets to extend learning, engage students, and improve generalization of concepts
Consider using this Before & After resource for students who need more help!
