Colorful Semantics uses color coded cards to help children to learn the important elements of a sentence and how to join them together in the correct order. We know that "s" can be a very difficult sound, so let's make it fun to practice. Research shows that children learn much quicker while engaged in play. Do your students need some further independent practice following their UFLI or science of reading phonics lessons? This is a UFLI inspired extension task for lessons 1 to 98 word work. Elkonin boxes can be used to teach phonemic awareness by having students listen for individual sounds and marking where they hear the sounds in boxes. These printable worksheets assist the students with their phonemic awareness, segmenting sounds, grapheme-phoneme correspondence and grapheme placement. Each box in an Elkonin box card represents one phoneme, or sound.

Teaching students to segment words into individual speech sounds is a useful strategy to improve student reading. These worksheets are a great way to provide extra practice in grapheme-phoneme correspondence and grapheme placement.

Elkonin boxes can be used to teach phonemic awareness by having students listen for individual sounds and marking where they hear them in the boxes. Each box in an Elkonin box card represents one phoneme, or sound.

These worksheets may help with practice of letter formation.

These worksheets can help a student with word spelling. A student might write the sounds in the elkonin boxes or choose to use manipulative letters before writing the words on the blank lines.

Encourage generalization and carryover of sounds in speech for the phonological process of stopping and for frontal lisps and lateral lisps. We know that /ch/ can be a very difficult sound, so let's make it fun to practice. Research shows that children learn much quicker while engaged in play. This is the perfect game to help our students produce their sounds more quickly.

Wh- questions: Ask who, what, where, when, why questions about each word.
