Morning Meeting Picture Slides are important to utilize to develop strong relationships with students and peer-to-peer relationships.  The picture of the day allows for deeper conversations and the building of a strong classroom community, which in turn raises academic achievement skills. How I Use Picture of The Day

We use a picture of the day every morning during our morning meeting routine. The morning meeting slides are projected on our screen for all students to see. Students are asked to infer, visualize, synthesize, and create connections with the picture. As students are learning the 46 - 2nd grade sight words in this product, they will be provided with each word, an example of the word used in a sentence, and the opportunity to make up a sentence themselves using the word. I find that with my students who are Deaf/hard of hearing/ELL, when they make up sentences using each newly learned sight word, it helps them to remember how to spell the word, the meaning, and how it is used. My students love booklets of any kind that they can refer back to. Once they have come up with their sentences, they can include pictures that they print and cut out, draw pictures freehand, or find pictures in a magazine that they can add to each page of the 2nd grade sight word booklet that matches each sentence they come up with. This gives students the opportunity to connect what they are learning about in the classroom with their own personal interests. This booklet is perfect for students that are on grade level as well as students who require instructional information to be adapted.

This book series is great for children ages 7 - 13, as they can relate with what Claudia, Kristy, Mary Anne, and Stacey are doing. This book discusses problem solving skills, working together as a team, listening to others ideas, being responsible, starting a babysitting business, and being a good friend/sibling. The comprehension questions in this product relate with the text as well as students own experiences. Vocabulary words, their meanings, and example sentences are presented in the packet. Students can also write sentences using the vocabulary words. As the book is being read aloud, as students are reading the book or after the book has been read, students can answer the comprehension questions in this packet. How it Works:

1. Students may start at ANY card with their pencil and paper on a clipboard. If this is too much to carry: Adjust the activity, by “hiding” the cards around the classroom writing surfaces such as tables and desks and have a pencil at each station.
2. Write the number of the starting card in the top left square.
3. Look at the picture, say what it is and think about what letters/word matches.
4. Walk around the room searching for the letter/word match of the picture located in the oval in the top right of another card.
5. When found, write the answer on the line in the first box.
6. Following the arrow on their paper to box 2, write the number of this card in the box on the top left.
7. Repeat until all boxes are full. Students should return to starting card when completed.
