These bookmarks were designed to be used with literature discussion groups but can be used with any book. There are three different versions. Print on cardstock for a longer-lasting bookmark and cut in half.

Then, use small sticky notes on top of each symbol. Students can draw each of the symbols on the sticky notes. As they read, they will place the sticky notes in their books.

You can regroup after reading and use the sticky notes to lead your discussion about the chapter or book.

As time passes, many great Americans who have shaped the arts, sciences, sports, and history of our nation and culture get lost in time. The Great Americans Series of Biographies and Worksheets is an easy-to-read 200-word Biography of just the highlights of each subject's life designed to keep young readers engaged. The Questions page ensures student reading comprehension and grasp of key points. The Vocabulary page introduces and explains new words, phrases, and/or institutions students may not have been familiar with. The Quotes page challenges students to write what a famous quote by the subject means to them. The Great Americans Series is available individually or in bundles, making great bell work. This is a fun non curricular thinking task that goes beyond just asking students to convert rational numbers to other forms and put them in order. It provides students with an opportunity to think more deeply about the relative sizes of rational and irrational numbers and strategically choose which shapes to place where.

There are many valid approaches and answers to this task so it is a great way to start the year and build a thinking classroom.

This includes both a version made for 5th, 6th, or 7th grade with mixed numbers and decimal side lengths as well as a version for 8th/9th grade which includes square roots as well.

The task: Draw 4 points such that when you connect each point to the other 3 points for a total of 6 line segments, there are exactly 2 distinct lengths of line segments. You must connect each point to every other point.
