This social story is designed to help children understand the importance of not interrupting others during conversations or activities. It provides a clear, supportive explanation of why waiting to speak and listening carefully are important social skills.

Ideal for teachers, parents, and caregivers, this story helps children develop the important social skill of waiting their turn and not interrupting others, fostering respectful and effective communication.

What is included?

As well as a 11 page social story there is also a shortened adapted book version of the story with movable pictures to attach to each page.

Why do you need this?

The point of a social story is to use a patient and reassuring tone to teach children about social situations in a way that can be easily understood. Social stories can be useful for any child who is struggling to understand a situation or concept or needs help to understand a social skill or social cue, expectations, perspectives, common responses or is troubled about an upcoming event but social stories are particularly useful for children on the autistic spectrum for whom social cues can be challenging and who often suffer anxiety if they do not know what to expect from a situation.

How and when might you use this?

· To implement a social story, you should first ensure that you have eliminated distractions; that it is just you and the child sitting together focussed on the story.

· Initially you should read the story through twice with the child but it is then vital to revisit it regularly.

· Try to find a way to incorporate the story into the child's daily schedule.

· If the story is relating to a particular inappropriate behavior, it is useful to read the story when this behavior occurs, you do not however want the story to be seen as any kind of punishment.

· Regularly praise your child and keep it a positive experience.

These books should be used over and over to reinforce the point so I would suggest either putting the pages into a display book or laminating and binding them.

These positive behavior reward tickets will increase class engagement and participation by the students. When students are rewarded for their positive actions, it boosts their self-confidence, and they aim for higher achievements, and it ultimately leads to measurable improvements in academic and behavioral results.

These end-of-year award certificates are conveniently in black and white for easy, no-prep, no expense printing. 30 eye catching awards in 2 different themes means there are 60 awards to choose. You can print on white paper, coloured paper, coloured cardstock, or have students colour them in themselves. My decision to do this is in response to so many teachers having strict colour printing budgets at their schools. I wanted to find an economical way of printing these, so teachers did not have to break the bank!

What to do:

Make copies of the awards that you would like to use, either by printing an entire set or by selecting the ones you want for printing.

This ten-station All About Me-themed Gallery Walk will introduce a slice of humor into your first day or week of school! Students will get to know each other, you as teacher will get to know your students (and plus they will think you are SUPER cool).

What needs to be prepared?

• Print ONE set of station cards, and print one coloring sheet and answer recording sheet per student. You can also print the student and teacher instructions if you feel it's needed. This is a very printer-friendly product, as everything but the instructions are in black and white!
• Cut the 10 station cards in half, then display them on tables or walls or wherever you want to play the game.

How do we play?

Students visit each of the ten stations. They read the All About Me question and choose an answer. Then, they mark the answer on their recording sheet. Each answer correlates to a pizza ingredient. Once all stations are completed, students will have 10 ingredients total ( . . . and maybe some of them are grosser than others). These are the ingredients they use to draw and color their goofy pizza on the included coloring sheet.
