Help students predict and classify with this observation journal! Students first learn about the flowering plant life cycle. Then, they label the important parts of a plant. Student then plant one of 4 seeds- sunflower, firecracker, moonflower or marigold. They make predictions on what flower this will become based on the identification pages. The classifying plants file folder activity allows students to label the parts of plants - cells, stem, roots, and leaves. Students will also match the following vocabulary words and their meanings with pictures: parallel veins and netted veins found in leaves, soft stems and woody stems, smooth leaf margins and jagged leaf margins found on leaves, waxy texture, smooth texture, and rough texture found on leaves, and taproots and fibrous roots. Students can do this independently, with support, or with a partner.
